he was very sick. he had vomit and throw up daily. he drank a whole lot of water. the vet couldn't find anything. eventually i did food experiments and got him stable on controlled portions of the science diet, mostly dry with very little wet chicken and liver. could he have been sick from the tainted food and just recovered since taken off? if so, will there be long term effects? perhaps a shortened life. should i have him looked at even though he's fine now?

If you can, take him to a different vet for another opinion. Drinking lots of water and vomiting daily is a sign of something not good. It could be a sign of kidney disease. Is he using the litter box a lot more than usual?

When my cat had kidney disease she became extremely constipated because I fed her mostly dry food with just a little wet. She needed many enemas to unpack her (poor kitty). My vet told me to feed her wet food to keep her hydrated. He said cats with kidney disease need a lot of moisture in their diet so dry food only is not a good idea.

I would take him back to the vet.Let them know he ate the poisoned cat food.Have them run what ever test they can.To make sure he is o.k..Poisions can eat at your internal organs. So just to be on the safe side.Get him checked out.If your current vet won't take you seriously.Get another one to look at the cat.I would also find out if their is some sort of class action suite you can get involved with or if you have to get your own attorney and I would summit copies.(never the originals). Of all the vet bill to the company who's tainted food it was. They are at fault and they have to at least compensate the injured.I am not telling you to take them to the cleaners or anything but you shouldn't have to be burdened with the medical bills from something they caused.Besides the harder these companies get hit in the wallet the less likely this will happen again.

Keep in mind, some kittens have sensitive stomachs regardless...

Long before this scare, I had a kitten I walked the floor with night after night... he didn't really start having a "normal" stomach til he was almost a year old...

So have him checked again by the vet, now that we know the truth about the bad food, but he could just be a sensitive eater, too...

have him looked over just in case. The culprit was rat poison and if he did his throwing up and is back to normal and you're not feeding him any more of the bad food he should be ok. As far as I know rat poison in cats, is the same as humans, when it's out of your system it's out. He shouldn't have any more problems. Hopefully it was just a alergic reaction to the food, some cats will develop allergies to some things in food.

Stop giving him any canned food. You can soften up the dry food with water. I would ask your vet to do a urinalysis and perhaps a CBC (complete blood count) to make sure his his liver & kidneys are ok.

many people i know are doing a mistake feeding their cats canned cat food, its the same thing like a can of ravioli for us. "so tell me which one is healthier canned or not canned " its very obvious your cat must have been eating so much canned food it poisoned him and he got very sick you should be aware that your cat has a greater chance of dieing than living and since the vet couldn't do anything go to a cat specialist

Take your cat to the vet so he can make sure that your cat will be ok. He could end up with a relapse and that would not be good.
