I have a 7yr old cat and I just got an 8 week old kitten about a month ago. My 7yr old cat has taught kittens in the past to use the box but she refuses to help the new kitten. The older cat gets along with kitten but won't help kitten out. I've done: 1.putting the kitten in the box every 30min. 2.When wetting/soiling the floor- put kitten in box with it. 3.I got two different litterboxes: large/small also trying 2 different kinds of litters. Each change about a week apart. A month of urine and feces on the floor, I'm starting to give up. Any more advice for my difficult kitty?

They are both female. Cleo is upset. She will act curious and follow Schatze around but if she gets too close Cleo will hiss and swat at her. Of course we are giving Cleo lots of extra attention. I know Cleo needs time to get used to having another cat in the house. I was just curious on the average time it may take or if there is anything we can do to help the process along??

Is it normal for my cat to bite me? He goes for my fingers, my wrist and my lower arm. I've had him for 2 weeks. When I first got him he would nibble on my hand but he wouldn't BITE me hard. Now that's all he seems to do. What do I do?

It was bleeding, and it cant walk. It is still breathing, and it is too late to go to the vet. Will the kitten die? Is the injury to severe? Should I let him go? What should I do?

My 13 year old cat, Flower, was crying night before last...she does that big MEOW when she wants to go outside, but I took her into my bed because she seemed different. Yesterday, she didn't want to eat (she's the first one to go to the kitty food) she's the fattest out of our six kitties. Anyway, I took her to the vet today, she has a severe kidney infection and has hepatitis because of the kidney infection. She is on Ciproflaxin IV and the vet tech said she is doing better tonight. I love this girl so much, he said that we still have to rule out cancer.

Do you have any experience with this? I don't want Flower to suffer, she is such a special cat...any words of advice are greatly appreciated, please and thank you so much. I know she will be fine, but I have to wait until Saturday for the vet's diagnosis.

I've never seen a cat at petsmart in my life, but in the commercials, there are people who bring their pets. Has anyone ever brought their cat into petsmart? I know that it is probably a bad idea considering the fact that there are big dogs there, but I would like to know for reference.

I am fostering 4 abondoned kittens. I have put a ton of time, money and love into these kittens. I have Vet checked them, bottle fed, costantly bathed and bought products for them in my home. I have grown to love them, they are 3 and a half weeks old now and i will be finding them homes at 6-8 weeks. When a stranger gave them to me, they had eye infections so badly that there eyes were forced shut. They were also badly underweight. I worked through all of this and even brought them to work with me so they could have constant care. Now they are in excellent health and have the best personalities. I want to plan their future homes now, so that they can prepare for a new pet instead of just jumping into the decision of taking a kitten home. I hate when i see people in front of a store w/ a box of kittens with no interest of where the kitten is going. I DONT WANT ANY MONEY for them. I just want to know that they are going to a good home. Should i set up interviews? Any Suggestions?

Our young female cat recently had a litter that had 2 kittens in it. She moved them and now one has a little hole where it's umbilical cord used to be. And the other one has a bloody foot and also a bloody tail but it's better now. I think it is because the mother licks them too often. The kitten with the hole in it's stomach is always really wet in that spot. They seem to be walking around and are acting fine, but they are always wet and bloody. What should we do about this and could the mother eventually kill them by over-cleaning them?

The mother is very friendly now, but she used to be jumpy around us, despite the fact that our other cat raised her on our property. Should we stop handling them? They were never like this until we started holding them.

My dad has 7 kittens that are ready to leave their mom. So, next Friday we are going to bring home 2 or 3 of these kittens and put a sign out front that says 'Free Kittens"
(Question) We are going to keep the kittens in a big dog cage, with food, water, litter box, whatever they will need.
I will be taking them out, a lot, and they will only be in the cage at night, and maybe sometimes during the day.
Will this work? Is this a good idea? Any other things to say?
THANX FOR UR HELP

Two of my female cats had babies 9 weeks ago. All of the kittens are in there new homes and are doing great! The mommy cats are walking around the house meowing for about a week. Are they depressed? I almost feet bad for them, is this normal behavior for them? Also When can the mommies get fixed now that they are not feeding the babies?

My 11 year old cat has an licking problem. She is constantly licking and grooming herself! She doens't have fleas at all, I have bathed her twice within the past two weeks and fog bombed the basement part of the house where I live. So there shouldn't be any bugs or parasites that are bothering her. My other cat doesn't seem to have the same problem. But this cat has licked, groomed, and chewed herself so much that she has scabs everywhere and her fur is thinning out. I really don't think that she is sick...my next step will be to take her to the vet, but I wondered if anyone knew something that would help.
