Is it normal for my cat to bite me? He goes for my fingers, my wrist and my lower arm. I've had him for 2 weeks. When I first got him he would nibble on my hand but he wouldn't BITE me hard. Now that's all he seems to do. What do I do?

My cat also bites me. She mainly does it when she wants to play. Sometimes, she'll be on my lap and I will be petting her and out of nowhere, she'll just bite me! I think he's just trying to tell you that he loves you...in a wierd playful way. I have to scold my cat sometimes so she knows biting hard is not okay. Try playing with your cat somehow if he bites you again...or bite him back! just kidding!

You shouldn't have let him nibble or bite you. He now thinks it is a game and you enjoy it as much as he does. Don't hit him or anything, because that will make it even more exciting for him, he'll think you are playing the game too. Just withdraw your hand whenever he does it, send him away and say No. Then don't play with him. Reward him with petting and sweet talking when he doesn't bite you. And give him a toy to play with and bite.

I adopted a 1 year old cat 5 weeks ago and he has been biting too. The other day he bit down on my wrist and wasn't letting go, I had to thump his forhead to get him to let go. I have no idea what his problem is. I am pretty sure that if you look online or in a large petstore you are bound to find something to put on your hands, or even a lotion, that when he bites he wont like the taste and wont do it again. If not, what about that stuff people put on their thumbs so they wont suck them. Try that, he shouldn't like the taste and will stop. Good luck!

My cat does that too. I've had her for 4 months now. She went to nibbling and now she bites but it's only when she plays with me. But of course she does it on my feet. But if u want it to quit squirt him with water or put some tobasco sauce or some kind of spicy stuff they don't like. That should cure it. I know it sounds mean but that's the only way to get them trained.

Sometimes if they are taken from mom too early they don't learn bite inhibition from their littermates. Another kitten would squawk loudly if bitten too hard & he would know he was getting too rough. Try letting out a great big "ouch!" if he bites too hard. That may help.
