You didn't give the cats age, but as a general rule, when cats go off their food it is a sign that they are sick/don't fell well.
4-6 weeks is too long for it to be a food change issue.
She needs to see a vet asap.
It could be many medical reasons.
Good luck.

Was, is your cat drinking alot of water? peeing alot? Those would be signs of diabetes. If your cat does have diabetes and stopped eating this could be very serious.even life threatening if ketones devoleped. Immediate vet treatment would be needed. You can buy some ketodiastic reagent strips from the pharmacy to check the urine and see if there are ketones and also to see if sugar was spilling in the urine which would be a sign of diabetes. In any event, I don't aslways advocate vet visits but I feel it is necessary here and it should be done promptly even if it isn't diabetes.
If it is diabetes, please contact me as I have alot of experience with this and many vets unfortunatly are just not up to date. I can teach you what you need to know.
Also, please stop feeding dry food as I belive that is the number one cause of diabetes in cats. Canned foods w/o gravy are best.

Sounds like your kitty might be sick. Have you tried going back to his old food? Some kitties are VERY picky about what they eat.

If he's not eating much, that will definitely make him not feel very well and maybe even a little moody. Also, the new food might not agree with him. You could try weaning him from the old food by mixing it with a little of the new food, gradually working your way to having more new food than old.

Other than that, if he is sleeping more than usual and not acting normal, I'd say you need to get him to the vet.

How old is your cat? My mom's cat is 17 years old and lost lots of weight in the past year and is very picky about what she eats. It could be that your cat is just getting old, but regardless, I'd take him or her to the vet for a check up. Your cat could be trying to tell you that he or she is sick. Also, has anything other than food changed in your cat's environment? Sometimes the introduction or loss of another pet or person can depress your cat. Good luck.

Signs of diabetes are usually excessive drinking and urination.

Why was the food changed exactly? A cat that won't eat, especially its usual treat is usually sick so I would get to a vet BEFORE other symptoms develop.

Sounds like the cat is sick. You should take him into the vet. Cats usually never turn down the wet food.

There has been lots of problems with cat/dog food on the market and cats and dogs have ended up with kidney failure and eventually death all over the US. I would take your cat to the vet and talk to them. Go to the menu foods list.com site and you will find a complete list of the recalled food. Most of the food with the deadly ingredients are kinds with gravy in them.

Not sure but could the food you gave be on the recalled list? Please check and if not, I would take the cat to see the vet. Good luck to you.
Oh, a diabetic cat will drink lots of water.

Your kitty needs a visit to the doctor, and sooner rather than later. Any number of things could be causing these symptoms in a cat, including kidney disease, infection, liver disease, cancer, metabolic/hormonal imbalance, and diabetes. Have blood and urine tests run and consult with your veterinarian about her behavior. Be sure to include how much water she is drinking and how regular her urination and defecation are.
