It was bleeding, and it cant walk. It is still breathing, and it is too late to go to the vet. Will the kitten die? Is the injury to severe? Should I let him go? What should I do?

Its a kitten. It was laying on the floor. It is breathing, and it can move. It cant walk though. I think it is a broken neck. It looks like it at least. Is there a way to mend this kitten? I really want to because it is young and cute. I dont really want to lose it. Any possible chance of it healing and the kitten being normal?

Why is it too late to get this kitten to the vet? The kitten obviously has some serious injuries, and it's really cruel to not try to get him some help. Why would anyone on Yahoo Answers know what is wrong with this kitten? You need to take it to a vet if you truly want to help save it. If nothing can be done and the kitten is suffering greatly, it's much kinder to put him to sleep than it is to just wait and see if he'll die. I understand that you have good intentions, but this animal needs to get to a vet. If your neighbor does not have the money, take it to a vet and see if they can work out a payment plan. I doubt they'll turn away a seriously ill baby animal.

Broken necks will not always kill the animal. My boyfriend's puppy once had his neck broken (someone fell over him) and they took him to the vet. He healed and lived another 7 healthy years.
Take the kitten to an emergency vet, they're everywhere. It might be a bit more of a drive and a bit more money, but it's worth it.
And if the vet says it's too bad, don't be afraid to let the kitten go. Sometimes the pain of recovery is too much, and it's wrong to put an animal through that just for your own gain.
Poor kitten!

Im sorry but, there is really nothing you can do for this kitten. You should take it to the vet though. If the vet cant make it better, you should put the kitten asleep. Dont let the kitten be in pain because the kitten is in alot of pain right now its suffering.

No Philip, the kitten needs to be put to sleep. The cheapest and most loving way is to go the animal shelter and pay a small fee. It may be something else, they are very experienced and can tell if the neck is broken. The fact that he can move but not walks tell me its likely a brain injury. He may have fallen off something and has some brain damage. Is he able to eat? Will his mother still nurse him? If hes eating, give it some time.......he may recover....

Do get the maggot out. Vets will slather Vaseline over the wound then cover it with a gauze pad to keep the animal from licking it. The Vaseline should suffocate the maggot in a couple days then you can squeeze and pull out the dead maggot. But don't listen to these people that tell you to put peroxide in a deep wound. Peroxide not only kills bad stuff but kills healthy skin too. It says right on the package not to use on deep or puncture wounds for that reason. Irrigate the wound with some saline or betadine solution if you feel you need to. Put some triple antibiotic on it.and let it heal from the inside out. You may have to put bell collar on the kitten so she can not lick the wound while it heals.

it is never too late to take it to the vet. Cats and kittens are very unique animals and can survive major truama with the right care. Nerves dont heal but they do create new pathways. You need to take it to the vet to see if it can be saved.

It doesn't sound like it will make it. The best thing is to ask them if you can take kitty to the vet, tomorrow, if kitty is still alive, at the very least, he can put kitty out of his misery. What did they say happened? kittens don't just break their necks. Sorry you had to see it.

It sounds like his injury is severe--he may have suffered nerve damage that's preventing him from walking. Unfortunately, nerve damage cannot be healed. It will probably die slowly unless it is put down by a vet. Sad.

Call the on call vet, or look up a 24 hour emergency animal hospital and ask them what to do. I hope everything turns out ok

Take it to an emergency vet. It's never too late. Or keep it in a soft place until you take it to the vet.
