I've never seen a cat at petsmart in my life, but in the commercials, there are people who bring their pets. Has anyone ever brought their cat into petsmart? I know that it is probably a bad idea considering the fact that there are big dogs there, but I would like to know for reference.

Yes, cats are allowed. I've brought a couple of my cats in there (one at a time, of course) occasionally when they have picture-taking events, and I've sometimes seen other people with cats there. Most cats are frightened by being in strange places & around strange people and especially dogs, so that's why you won't see cats there very often - only the most laid-back and tolerant cats do well there.

Whenever I take a cat there, I put a harness & leash on it and bring it into the store inside a secure soft-sided carrier, and don't let it out of the carrier until I'm well away from the door, even with the harness & leash on. I hold the cat with the harness & leash on in my arms, and keep the carrier slung over my shoulder and unzipped so the cat can climb in if something makes him or her nervous. Even with a harness and leash on, if a cat gets really frightened it may still be able to get loose, so I have to be alert & keep the carrier ready all the time. My cats are used to our dogs, so dogs aren't a problem for them if the dogs are friendly and gentle - of course, I watch any approaching dog's body language closely to see if it might be a threat to my cat, and put the cat back in the carrier & walk away if the dog appears dangerous or too rambunctious. The cat goes back into the carrier for safety before I go back up to the front of the store to check out.

Yes all animals are welcome in petsmart. Most people don't bring cats because cats usually won't walk with you on a leash and people don't want to have to carry them around. There is also the problem of there are a lot of dogs that like to chase cats in petsmart.

Yes. As a former employee there I saw a few people bring in cats. Not too many people do though because their cats are too excitable or there are too many dogs around. But cats are allowed in the store and alot of owners bring them in to make sure they'll like the cat toys before buying them.

My cats wouldn't do well in Petsmart! They are allowed in there as far as I know. I guess people just don't take their cats everywhere they go like they do dogs.

Cats are allowed in Petsmart. Don't worry about the dogs, they all have leashes on them.

I brought mine to petsmart when they were kittens. I kept them wrapped up in my jacket, and they were fine. I wouldn't recommend it, however, as you are right, there are many large dogs there that may not get along with cats, and if your cat gets away, it would be a big problem. Its too risky in my opinion.

I know what you're talking about! I guess Pet smart is just trying to say feel free to bring in your pets. yes you can bring your cat in but something you should know if you already don't. Cats ar every territorial and hate to travel. it's tramatic for them. They use their smell a great deal and when they travel they go nuts because of all the smells, it's too much for them. so even though you can bring your cat to Pet smart I wouldn't suggest doing so unless you're taking it in for grooming. hope this was helpful!!

Sure, but many cats would not enjoy the experience due to the dogs and being in a strange place. They would need to be in a secure carrier or something, and most cats hate carriers and car rides.

I don't see why it is called PETSmart just keep your cat on a leash because there are other animals in there that might freeke your cat out.
