My dad has 7 kittens that are ready to leave their mom. So, next Friday we are going to bring home 2 or 3 of these kittens and put a sign out front that says 'Free Kittens"
(Question) We are going to keep the kittens in a big dog cage, with food, water, litter box, whatever they will need.
I will be taking them out, a lot, and they will only be in the cage at night, and maybe sometimes during the day.
Will this work? Is this a good idea? Any other things to say?
THANX FOR UR HELP

It should work. I don't see why it wouldn't. You will mostly have lil kids wanting to take them home-hopefully they are responsible. I will tell you that my first kitten was purchased out of a box. Someone was sellling them for two dollars outside of a grocery store as I walked out with my groceries. I was 9 then. I bought the kitten -named her KoKo & I had her for years-she had many litters of kitties...I always gve them away to my lil friends. TMI I know-hope it helps! Good luck!

I would look into no kill animal shelters first. These people have more experience and can weed out those who are looking to harm animals or use them for backyard breeding. They can also ensure that the kittens are spayed and control the unwanted overpopulation issue. How old are the kittens? They should be a minimum of 8 weeks old, but 12 weeks is a better age to rehome them.

I would not just give the kittens away who knows what kind of people are just gonna come for the kittens. Unfortunately out there in life there are a lot of sickos and I just wouldn't trust anyone. Talk to these people and maybe put an ad in the classifieds of your local paper or local Want Ads magazine.
Just be careful and be cautious who you give these kittens to.

They should be fine in the cage, if it's at least kept inside somewhere. You wouldn't want something to decide they were a nice little snack.
The best way I was always able to get rid of kittens or puppies was to take them, with my sign, over to the Wal-Mart (or other busy store) and just sit in the parking lot for a few hours. I don't think it would take long to get rid of only 2 or 3 that way.

NEVER give kittens away for free! You must always charge a reasonable adoption fee, to discourage people taking advantage of the opportunity to get a free kitten to use as fighting dog bait, snake food, or to sell to a laboratory.

If there's a no-kill shelter in your area, ask them for assistance - if they have space, they may take the kittens for you. If they do not have room to take the kittens for you, ask them for guidance in finding homes for these kittens - they can tell you what is a reasonable adoption fee to charge in your area, and offer suggestions for questions to ask to make sure these kittens go to a good home.

Please advise your dad to get his female cat spayed immediately, before she gets pregnant again - a female cat can get pregnant right away after her kittens are weaned.
Hope this helps!

Never just give away kittens as some people will take anything that is free. Some people could take one just to torture it later. If you charge for them only someone who wants a kitten and is willing to look after it will buy one. if they can't afford the kitten, they can't afford to feed it and look after it.

I would also place ads in the newspaper - 'kittens free to a good home' - don't give the kittens to anyone that doesn't seem right. Ask potential owners lots of questions - are they going to vaccinate the kits, neuter them, do they know about fleaing and worming? Make sure they're going to people who know what they're doing!
