I would take him to the vet because the loss in weight sounds worrying- it could be diabetes. Is he/she drinking a lot? eating a lot and still skinny?

But then again, he/she could simply be shy. I had a cat once who disliked/ was shy of all men because he had been raised by a woman. As soon as a man walked in, my cat would run off somewhere. He only liked my sister, my mum and me:D

So, your cat may have a similar shyness/ nervousness.

Some cats are just neurotic. We have four cats who are all laid back and very friendly. They are all from barn cat parents, so no fancy breeds here. Persians can be odd in their behavior, so you should first research the breed.

If he is afraid of your husband, your husband needs to make friends with Joey. This might help alot.

As far as the eating thing - maybe he hates the food, the food bowl, or where his food is placed. Cats hate to have food in a high traffic area - generally don't like plastic bowls because they can have an odor - and won't drink stale water.

Take Joey to the vet for a good kitty check and research the breed.

If there is ever a question about your cat's health, you should definitely take him to the vet, there may be a medical reason he is under weight and only your vet can tell why for sure.

Yes, you should take him to the vet, skinny is not healthy. There are medical causes for underweight. You should always go to the vet if you're worried about an animal's health.

Do you deworm your cat?

You need to find out the cat's history. Perhaps he acts the way he does because of his previous owners. some cats are naturally small-framed and persians are usually skinnier than other breeeds of cat.

food. seduce him with food and catnip. pet them softly while theyre eating. dont talk loud. dont pick him up. let him come to you. cats like to do things on their terms. maybe he need a friend like another cat. i got my cats pet mice to watch and that made them very happy.

If ever in doubt, yes take him to the vet. He might have worms, which is why he might be underweight.
