Two of my female cats had babies 9 weeks ago. All of the kittens are in there new homes and are doing great! The mommy cats are walking around the house meowing for about a week. Are they depressed? I almost feet bad for them, is this normal behavior for them? Also When can the mommies get fixed now that they are not feeding the babies?

well the cats can get fixed soon. the mother cats are probably searching for their kittnes and will be sad. it is normal behavioral. to help them get over their depression u should play with them, give them treats and try to keep them occupied. if they are still depressed then consider taking them to the vet for some help. also try looking up more on cat depression on the internet, or books on it. hope they feel better! =3

I agree it could be the beginning of heat again... watch them close - cats can get pregnant again shortly after birthing their kittens. Depressed, maybe not, hormonal changes I would guess. My cat had a litter and she started heat about 2 weeks later. It was really rediculous. I think its safe to say that you can get them fixed now. Take them to the vet and see about it.

It will take a few days then she will be fine. Make your apointment and ask the vet about how long to wait. Mine said wait till milk dried up. that is now so she goes in 1 week now.

They may be meowing because they are starting back into their heat cycle. Call your vet make and appointment.
