She's spayed, 10 months old, and has her claws, which I trim weekly. She never scratches me, but when playing, she loves to bite! elbows hanging over the edge of the couch, fingers and hands. Never feet. I believe she thinks they are toys! How do I get her out of this habit?

I'm getting my almost 6 month kitten neutered pretty soon and I need to decide if I want him declawed (just on his two front paws) too since its cheaper if you get it all done at once. His scratching doesn't bother me much like me getting hurt-wise (he bites more anyway) but I don't want him to scratch up the furniture or anything. He doesn't do it now but I heard that they will when they get older. The main reason I don't want him to get declawed is because I think it would hurt him and my dad is really against it too. Is it cruel? I don't want him to hate me or anything lol but it might be for the best. And he's just an indoor cat also so he doesn't need much defense for himself. I'd like some opinions on this thanks

Hi, my cat is six years old, twelve pounds and due for a teeth cleaning. I've heard stories about pets not waking up from anesthesia and I'm wondering if this is common or a freak thing that happens. Thank you!

My cat (Loki) was recently diagnosis with crystals in his urine (by the Animal Hospital). The Animal hospital prescribed Feline Hill's Prescription Diet w/d (available only via prescription). I have been reading up on Hills Rx Diet and have come across very mixed reviews. Just checking to see if anyone knows of an alternative food for cats with crystals or FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disorder).
I am off to the vets tomorrow - just would like to go in there somewhat prepared. I don't know if there is anything else out there, available with or without a script.
Loki is a 7.5 years old male cat - weight is 17.8 (a healthy baby boy).

Thanks for any assistance with this.
Loki

Yes, I have alot of questions revolving Bailey (what we've deciding to call her). :]

She's very active and hates being trapped up in a box or, in that video, two pillows so I could video tape her. She cries and cries until I pick her up.

Anyways, how old does she look?

And If you have anything to say or just shoot at me, shoot! :D

I have a two year old tabby cat. He is a sweet heart. Very healthy, and wide open all the time. He is a mischief maker, and always doing something. In last couple of days, he has developed this cough, or sneeze or something. He will just stop whatever he's doing and cough real hard two or three times. He is still eating good, and sleeping good, and playing. I have a vet appointment in the morning, but does anyone have any idea what I may be looking at? Needless to say, he's our baby!

My cat stopped eating, drinking and eliminating for 3 days. Getting to vet earlier was impossible. Currently, he has been hospitalized for 3 days. Dr. placed catheter in bladder and gave ivs. He says prognosis is good. Good God! I don't want to see the bill. Any ideas?
Really, how can I prevent such problems in the future? Is one diet or food better than another? I feed a good quality dry food and give canned food as occasional treats. I also have a second male, neutered cat. Help! I can't go through this again.Any advice? Thanks.

okay my cat just had kittens and i wanted to make sure if the litter i use for her will be safe for her kittens when they are old enough to use the litterbox.Well i use Special Kitty cat litter for her and I dont know if it is the clumping kind or not.I dont want the kittens to eat it.and it to harden inside their stomachs.I know it's cheap and all but i dont have enough money for the good stuff, cuz im savin up to get her spayed. And dont say why i didnt spay her before she got pregnant.I took her in as a stray and she was already pregnant and i didnt want to make her have an abortion so yea. Is Special Kitty litter okay for kittens or should i get something else?

I just adopted a 6 year old cat a few days ago. She's super affectionate but does not seem interested at all in any kind of play activity. All she does is eat, drink and sleep. I understand as cats age, their activity level decreases, but shouldn't she be somewhat active? I'm taking her to the vet in two days and will ask the vet but was wondering if anyone could fill me in. She spent SIX MONTHS in the shelter and I was wondering if this could've contributed to her not wanting to play and if she might come around once she gets used to her new environment. Also, she does not cover up her waste in the litter box. Does anyone know why? I was thinking maybe she does not like the litter, because instead of covering her waste, she scratches the side of the pan and I know it's not because it's dirty because I clean it sometimes twice a day.
If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.

I found a baby kitten (I think shes about 4 weeks old.) 2 days ago.

We haven't had the money (my mom wasn't paid) to go get the proper milk to feed the kitten, so we've been feeding her cow milk. She does lap from a saucer, but we have to hold her so she doesn't step into the dish or stick her nose in too far that she sneezes.

I've been feeding her cow milk for 2 days (yesterday and today), I'm scared something will happen to her from what I've heard. We can't buy the milk right now (Pet stores closed), will anything happen to her? We planned to go once my dad got home but he went somewhere and didn't tell us, he came home late.

My parents say they dont have the money to bring her to the vet to get her checked, so I want to know if anything will happen to her in the future from drinking cow milk? :S

My cat is ALWAYS retching - like it's completely constant. We first thought it was hiccups, but now it's been happening for like a month. She even throws up...like once a day. And it's little, not a huge pile. Just like 5 half chewed pieces of cat food. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with her?

Our cat, who is 8, has always had run of the house and chooses wherever she would like to sleep - bed, sofa, chairs, piles of clothes etc... and we have never particularly minded this.

However, is it known that cats do particularly like their own designated space for sleeping? Would a bed or a basket make her more secure/comfortable etc - she often gets kicked off the beds (literally!) if we are asleep and she startles and jumps off the sofas etc etc

Am I actually depriving her of her own sleeping place or do cats like the run of the hosue to choose their own place?

I am getting to quite like the idea of her having one place, as I am getting a little fed up with the hair everywhere she has sat, but I love her to bits and really want to do what is best for her!

Thanks for your ideas!

like, can you get a cold from a cat? or can the cat get a cold from you? cuz my cat was healthy and then my dad got a cold and now she has one! i'm not sure. It's sounds likely, but im still unsure. don't feel bad, though, its just a cold nothing life-threatening.
