There is some variety but I don't think the breed of cat has anything to do with it. Some of our cats have purred very softly, some have had loud, rumbling purrs & a few have had what I can only describe as 3-or-4-toned purrs-- I call these ones "space kitties" lol.

Cats DO have different purrs!! I have three cats, and one purrs with the typical straight continuous purr, one purrs kinda broken up and random, and the other purrs-quits-purrs-quits!! Their purrs are just as unique as their personalities! I love my kitties, because they give so much, and expect so little - just good food, clean litter box, and attention and love - what a great payoff!! Take care!!

Ohhh definitely.... It varies from cat to cat, but American Shorthairs are known to have a cute high pitched "pigeon" pur, which I am guessing is because of the smushed faces... My cat is a Persian, and definitely has a unique purr..

Cats have different purs just like humans have different voices. At least.. my cats do. Haha. One cat even had a broken pur.

"Puuuuur" and then something I can best describe as it being a hook. I know, not a good description, but if you ever heard it, you'd agree.

Yes of course all cats have a different purrrrrrrrr... Do we all speak differently as humans? Is the cat happy? is she sad? mad, or just want to be loved.... It's all different learn from your cat... They do understand.. Renee
