While I agree that it CAN be done when the kitten reaches a certain weight, I like to wait until the little one is 6 months of age. If it's a boy, I've been told that neutering him early can stunt his growth.

Wow - six out of six WRONG!

A kitten (or a puppy) has to be two pounds in weight and eight weeks in age before it can be spayed or neutered. The waiting six months is a thing of the past and allows shelters to adopt out kittens that they have already altered. It's also much easier on the animals to have the operation when they're small.

Most vets like to wait til the cat is at least 6 months old but you may find some that will do it a little earlier.

most vets will say 6 months as they are big enough to take the anesthetic, some do it earlier, it depends on the vet.......
I've had 5 females done at 6 months with NO problems,, i have 2 kitties that will be done at 6 months also

My vets always said 6 months.
