There is a reflex action in the throat of a cat when it is happy or nervous where it will constrict the airway thus when they breath it makes the purring noise that a cat makes, kittens will purr to their mothers in communication, saying I'm here, take care of me!

I dunno about humans but lol maybe

As for the cat when i become a cat i will let you know as for girls they do not purr. I suggest the next time you hear a girl purr run for your life.

Humans can't really purr like cats. We can make sounds of pleasure, but we can't really immitate a cat's purr.
