My cat also has some "dandruff" stuff on her lower back where it's hard for her to reach. Vet said its not dandruff but dander and to use moisturizing cat shampoo or moisturizing cat-bath wipes (no people shampoo, too harsh) at most twice a month. Kitty prefers the cat-bath wipes over a dip in the bath (surprise!) and we've had good luck with "Just as Fresh" wipes.

Shampoos dry out the skin even more, making more dandruff.
The vet has something called Derm Caps, they're $8 for a two month supply. You break one over the food every other day.
You can also use a caplet of primrose oil or flax oil over the food once every three days, that will help the coat and skin make less dandruff. Puncture the caplet with a needle or cut with the tip of a scissors, and just squeeze on the dry or wet food.

The question should be "why does your cat have 'dandruff'". Cats are able to clean themselves. If your cat has white flakes it might have allergies, an infection, or dry skin. If you give your cat regular baths, it is highly recommended that you don't. It gives your cat dry skin. So, if so, stop and that might help the problem. Otherwise, take your cat to the vet.

What you are seeing is just dry skin due to their diet. All you have to do is see your vet and he will give you an oil that you can put into their wet food and in about a week or two you will see that their coat will be smooth, shinny and the dandruff will be gone.
