My family recently got a cat. It lives outside in the garage, but all of the cats that we live around keep coming and sleeping in it's bed, eating it's food etc. I was wondering if there is any way so to keep those cats away without it resulting in our cat becoming discouraged to be around our house.

Can you tell from a 6-8 month old kitten what type of personality it will have?

I am thinking about adopting a kitten, but I'm afraid that I'll end up with a cat that will not be docile and affectionate. I don't want a cat that will be terribly energetic. Is there any way of telling what a kitten will be like? Maybe I should just get a full breed like a ragdoll that has certain personality characteristics?

I haven't had a kitten in 20 years. My last cat was 2 years old when I adopted her, so I knew that she was a sweet cuddle-muffin when I met her.

Thanks for any info and advice.

last night she stopped eating and drinking and started throwing up. The vet said to stop the antibiotics because they could be making her sick, but she's still throwing up, just bile, and after I gave her water. This is my first kitten ever, so I have no clue if this is normal for them or what the signs of dehydration would be. It's the weekend, so I'm really worried about it getting out of control. Any ideas?

My cat Tiger, is black and grey in stripes kind of like a tiger. The tip of her tail is white and so are her paws, they look like socks. I have been looking everywhere online, but have not seen a picture that looks like her so I can't figure it out. If anyone knows please tell me. Thank You!

I plan on adopting an adult cat in the next coming weeks and want to prepare for her beforehand. She will be coming from a shelter and will be the only pet in the home. She is spayed and up to date on all of her shots.
I would like some advice on what I will need for this cat before she arrives home. Off the top of my head I came up with:
Food/water bowls
Food
Litter box
Litter
Toys
Bed
Grooming tools
Carrier
I just want to know if there is anything I am forgetting. Plus, it would help to hear of helpful things to have from people who have cats of their own. I am not new to cats as I had one 5 years ago, but just feel a little out of practice.
Also, any tips for when she first arrives would be great too.
Thank you in advance.

Hello. 2 1/2 years ago I wanted to get my dad a cat for Christmas. Mom went to the animal shelter and brought home "Bruce Willis". He was 2 years old and found in an abandoned barn where he appeared to have lived since birth. I didn't know anything (and still don't know much) about feral cats, but I thought we could love him enough to make him our new kitty. We give him all the love he allows us to, but he continues to attack our feet quite aggressively at times. He will allow you to pet him, but only as long as he wants then he bites. Hard. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and I can no longer tolerate the bites/scratches to my feet. We have tried since we got him to break him of this habit, with no success. I would like to try everything possible to help him so we can keep him, but I'm at my wits end. When he bites, he draws blood. Is there any hope for Brucie?? Thank-you in advance for any advice.

My cat starts growling out of nowhere and finally she gets fed up with it and hisses at her rear end.
I can't check without getting my arm torn off, but could she possibly have worms?

all my cats recently had something similar to pink eye where their eyes were completely covered with gunk and they couldn't see. i washed their eyes out with warm water and they were fine, but one kitten has stopped eating
(which took me a while to notice since they're outside only cats)
as well as drinking and today it couldnt even walk away from me when i tried to come near it (it's not tamed).
i got a medicine despencer and force fed it some milk and water.
i asked my mom if we could make an appointment with the vet but she refuses to! :'(

is there anything i can do to possibly save my kitten besides wut im already doing???
thanks so much for any help.

My 5 year old cat was told she has a mass in her abdomen and The vet said it was a 50/50 chance she could have cancer and that was it he sent us home with pain meds...He did not ultrasounds, biopsy nothing like that and said she could die within a month..Should we get a second opinion or let him do the surgery? It seemed like he was not that thourough...He would not try and rip us off since I used to work there

I have a Siamese cat who hisses then runs and hides when any child or any small person approaches him. He is about 2 years old.

My wife had a major surgery and we werent home for several weeks and had my father feed him. (He loves my father) When we returned he had a panic attack and would hide and trimble for days. When he finaly got over it he started displaying this behavior. When this happens if I try to go "rescue" him he will even hiss at me. He is now getting to the point were he wont run and hide imediately. He WILL stay around until they get too close.

He is VERY emotionally attached to me, follows me all around the house, cries when I leave sometimes, and always curls up in my lap and sleeps anytime I sit down.
He also sometimes sits on the back of the chair and licks my head.
We have another cat who is about 1 year old and they love each other. They have friendly play fights now and then but never hurt each other and very rarely make much noise while doing so.

Hi. My cat had to have 1/2 of his tail amputated today because it was injured very badly. Otherwise, he is fine. The vet gave us a cone for his head so that he can't chew on his bandage. He freaks out with the cone on. He thrashes around and paws at the cone. I called the vet. They feel that he will try to chew on the bandage when he comes out of the drugs tonight. He hasn't chewed on it yet, and he didn't even lick the wound prior to the amputation. He is 7 years old.

Any ideas for helping him get used to the cone? Do you think he really needs to wear it while we are asleep? Has anyone had any experience with this with their animals???

Thanks...

Hi there...
I currently have an 8 week old foster kitten that may be going to Canada for her forever home. She hasn't had her first set of shots yet (but it will be done next week at the shelter) but to be able to make this work, the family would have to drive down on the 8th of August, but I believe that she will still be too young for the rabies vaccination which she has to have to be able to cross the border.
I'll be able to talk to the shelter director on Monday... but I was curious if there's a rabies vaccination that a then, 9 week old kitten can receive without it causing problems?
thanks so much!

My little cat has a sore under his chin .. the fur is gone and is bloody ... it is getting bigger.

I think I see him scratching there.

He is our first cat, so we are new at this.

I've bought sentry flea, tick and mosquito stuff and a medicated stick that (shaped like a deodorant container). I don't want to apply these until I hear from someone that this is a good course or not.

Your thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!
