He wakes me up in the middle of the night pulling his paws on the edge of boxes, or anything really. It's like he's trying to scratch, but he doesn't have claws! It's REALLY annoying and loud, waking me nightly!

I just noticed that my cat's paw is swollen and has a white lump on it (in the ankle area). Other than that, I see no injury (i.e. no scratch, puncture, etc). She is putting some weight on it but is not walking completely normal. Any ideas? Obviously, I am taking her to the vet first thing in the morning but is there anything I can do to make her comfortable until then?

Why do Fiv cats have to be the only cat in the house? Can't they be with other Fiv cats since they already are both positive for that cancer? I can understand why they can't be with FIV negative cats...

He doesn't shed now, but if kept healthy will this happen? Is it a pre-determined gene?

I have a 7-year old cat (domestic short hair - aka common house cat) that chews through electrical power cords, plastic shopping bags, plastic hoses - basically anything plastic that he can get in his mouth, and has for the past 5 years.

He has a companion cat, is relatively active (you know, for a cat), is otherwise very healthy. Neither cat goes outside and they both eat a good diet of Iams Adult Cat Food (dry, very rarely they get a little wet food).

So, what would cause a cat to chew on cords? I have gone through countless computer keyboards, printers and mice, several lamps, a couple of coffee makers, a blender and at least two toasters - all of these things are plugged in and have live power going through them. If he has gotten shocked, it doesn't seem to phase him.

Any help on why or how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

We don't understand how it could have happened. Her eye was infected (cat conjuvtivitis i think) Well that started to clear up really well this week and I think the infection spread from her eye to her neck from not being treated. (she had the infection for like 3 weeks) well i went home for a day and came back here and she was all sleepy and inactive. My boyfriend and i napped for about 3 hours and when we woke up his mom asked us of we knew of this golf ball sized lump on her neck and i said no there was nothing there about 3 hours ago. it looked like it had a hole in the middle. well a little bit later they see her again and it ruptured there was blood and goo allover her. they cleaned it up and waitied till morning. Boyfriends mom took her to the vet in the morning and his grandparents picked her up this afternoon and they lanced her. i was wondering if they left this big hole open so that it can drain. would it have gotten worse if they stitched it? because it looks gross. HELP :[

My mothers cat keeps peeing on the floor. She took her to the vet and there is nothing wrong with her. . . the cat is just "pissy"
It keeps peeing outside the litter, which is clean and in one corner on my mothers nice hardwood floor in the dining room. She has tried Nilodor and other detering products, but nothing works. She told me she would get rid of the cat if it keeps doing this and I do not want her too. Please help!!!

My cat has tape worms and supposedly she got them from swallowing an infected flea while grooming herself. If this is true could i get worms if I accidentally swallow a flea while I'm sleeping. I mean we supposedly swallow spiders all the time in our sleep, why not fleas??? Boogers (the cat) sleeps only a few inches from my head every night.

Sometimes I will buy a 1 lb. tub of chicken livers and bake them for about 20 -30 minutes. The cats love it. I only do this occasionally because too much liver is not good.

At first I tried the cheapest they have at WalMart (Cats Pride) and it is like sand and went everywhere....but it kept the odor down.

Now I am using Fresh Step, and it gets tracked out of the litter box just as bad even though it's the clay kind, and it smells a lot worse.

Any recomendations?

I just got a Calico 2 month old kitten. My intentions is to have her as an indoor cat. other then going to the vet for her shots. There is no chance she could get outside. I have a front door and security door before going outside. Is it necessary to get her spayed? I know I will get answers that she will live a longer life. But a friend with a male neutered cat died recently blamed on his neutering and a blockage in his urinary track.
Thanks

Ok well, my cat just broke my 80 dollar china vase today and I found it on the floor when I got home. I took her to the vase, picked her up and shook her from side to side till she meowed, then LIGHTLY gave her a small slap on the side, no it wasnt to where it would hurt. But after that, she wont come near me. I also sprayed her with water, what do I do? The cat ALWAYS likes to sit in my lap but today she wont :(

Don't you agree that old cats are ugly? I only like kittens.
Is there any type of cats that stay cute and small, no matter how they age? There are dogs who do.

The frontline doesn't work like it says that it should. I put it on them almost a month ago and I'm still seeing live fleas in their fur. I called an exterminator and it's too expensive to have them do my house so I bought carpet powder and did the house with that. I'm still seeing fleas. One of my cats was laying in bed with me and when he got up, I noticed all of the flea stuff (blood and eggs) all over the sheets. How do I stop this cycle that we're in and what is the best product to keep the fleas off of my babies (cats). Thank you.

I didn't get my cat fixed in time, and she had 4 kittens. The thought of them ending up in a bad home breaks my heart , but I have two dogs already. I do have a pretty decent sized house though, will keeping all the kittens make me the crazy cat lady?

My aunt is a clean freak and so is her husband.
my stupid little sister who is a mean girls wannabe told her that my kiten tore up her curtains (ive been staying here for a few weeks due to a family emergency) and she went to look and there were some TINY holes there that you can barely see unless you put it in the sunlight..
well... she's going to get him DECLAWED!
I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH THAT WHOLE DECLAWING THING! i was crying so hard. and shes making him stay in a kennel until she does so. im so sad! i dont want to give him up because i just love him so much!
some reassuring words?

We are considering adopting a 3 yr old female cat, who has been fixed, into our home. Our worry is our male cat, 1 and half years, who we have chosen not to fix becoming territorial around the house and aggressive. We have never had any problems with him spraying in or outside. Will he be able to adjust to a female or will this bring out the "man" in him?
