Sometimes I will buy a 1 lb. tub of chicken livers and bake them for about 20 -30 minutes. The cats love it. I only do this occasionally because too much liver is not good.

What??? Someone posted that what you're feeding them will hurt them and that you should feed them dry food instead? Um HELLO poster you have that completely backwards! Please don't post "advice" about something you obviously have NO clue about! The dry food you say to eat is the worse thing for cats - it has far too little protein, lacks moisture and contains far too much carbohydrates which leads to obesity in cats.

As for your question - yes - after the advice of my holistic vet to get my cat with kidney problems completely off dry food I supplement their diet with a chicken heart/chicken liver soup that I make them:

1 container of chicken hearts (check your meat department's freezer section)
- 1 container of chicken livers

Dump the hearts and livers into a medium sized pot and add enough water to cover about 1" over the meat. Simmer until cooked. Dump some of the liquid off, put the rest of the cooking liquid and the meat into a blender. Whip until the consistency is a thick soup. Add back more liquid to thin it back out a bit. Pour into ice cube trays and freeze.

To serve, pop out a cube or two and defrost in the microwave. Add a bit of warm tap water to thin it to desired consistency.

Not only is this super yummy to kitties but it's super high in protein, vitamins and taurine - all things your kitty needs. It also gives the kitties additional moisture which is vital for proper kidney function.

As per your comment about too much liver not being good for them. On the contrary - organ meats are great for cats!

Yes. My cats will be getting a can of tuna and catnip. They have catnip from time to time anyway but Christmas they can have all they want. No toys because they are entertained by stuff around the house.

My cat is on a raw diet, actually. It's great that you give your kitties a good treat like that, but not too often because livers aren't the best body part! Punk rawk grrl is right on. :)

you keep this diet going for your feline friends and soon you wont have any. they may love it but too much organic material will cause high chloresterol in these cats blood and they will die. feed them dry food. i bet they are fat too and i also bet they have diabetes
