If you were to ever hit someone elses pet with your car what would you do? would you go back and tell them or would you keep driving. What would you say to them? what would you do for them? I ask this because a year ago someone hit my cat and never told me. I had to find her laying there on the side of the road. And I know the person that hit her knew he hit her because he put her on our lawn. Just wanted to know what you would do..

Our cat Ophelia is a torte about 2 years old. She is an indoor/ outdoor cat who likes to climb. We noticed she was favoring her left hind leg. She was still using the leg but letting it stick out to the side and very sensitive to any touch near the leg.
My fiance took her to the vet but with odd results. The examination was described as prolonged 'man-handling' and after an x-ray, no diagnosis was made and since returning home her leg is far more sensitive, she barely lets it touch the ground and just lays in one spot. Her eyes are alert and she purrs but can barely walk.
They sent her home with an oral pain killer (buprenex/ Buprenorphine) and no other treatment, saying if the leg doesnt recover naturally they would like to try an inflamatory which has risks involved which we would rather not take.
Does anyone have any ideas?she was indoors for at least two days before we noticed anything. perhaps its just a sprain or stress to a tendon or muscle? (the x-ray didnt show anything)

This news story has also been covered in various tabloids across the UK. This cat, called Oscar, apparently senses when a person at the dementia care home will die. He will then go and purr quietly and sit on their bed with them until they pass away. He has done this with a 100% success rate. Is this pure chance or does Oscar the Cat have some strange and mystical power that we are unaware of ?

I want a Tabby kitten, but I don't know whether to get a male kitten or a female kitten. I doubt that I am going to let it outside much if at all, so it will mainly be an indoor cat. Which are more affectionate? Males or females?

ok,
my cats are 18 and my sister rescued them from the side of the road when they were kittens
my sister is moved out and married and in college
but for the past 6 years they've been in a barn with a few dogs (German shepherds) dirt floor, lots of mice that they don't chase
for about 3 years they lived in hay since we used to have horses
but how many lives have they used up?

thanks for reading

I tried to adopt a kitten recently at the local humane society. After spending nearly half an hour filling out a 3-page application and another half hour looking over all the kittens, I approached the "adoption counselor" (sigh.....) and told her the one I was interested in. She took ONE look at the app and said "sorry you can't get a cat." What was the reason? I had written indoor/outdoor on the application! I explained that of course I would keep the kitten indoors for quite a while until he was old enough....and also that I would neuter him when he was old enough....but she just said, "no sorry you wrote on here he would be outdoors at some point."

The humane society is always saying they are looking for "good homes" for cats. It's not true. They are SO strict that many kittens like that one will not get adopted and will rot in that cage and cost the humane society time and money.

Does anyone have suggestions as to how I can help implement policy changes so cats DO find homes?

I am getting my 13 year old son a new kitten. We are HUGE fans of Harry Potter, fantasy and magick. We already have a male cat named Mystickal that is solid black. The new kitten will be a felmale tri-color (black, orange, and grey). Please help us choose a name for the new addition to our family. Thanks in advance.

I live in the country and there is this feral cat that has been hanging around my house for a few days. It's a male, not neutered so he is not very friendly. I have been just ignoring him, but I think he comes around because there is an overabundance of birds/squirrels for him to eat. I have not been feeding him or being friendly. I don't want to injure him, but I don't want him around. If I call animal control, they won't be able to catch him because there are woods all around my house. Does anyone have ideas on how to get rid of this pest?

I have a little silver kitten and I think a Chinese or Oriental inspired name would suit him perfectly. However, I want it to be easily recognizable, so no "real" Chinese names that mean something translated into English. An example of what I'm looking for would be "Ping" which is easy to say and is the character of a duck in the famous children's book - or something like "Jackie Chan" which again is not a formal Chinese name and is very recognizable. Any ideas?

My cat has always been an indoor cat. She's 3 years old. The neighbors let their cat go outside. My cat was laying by the screen door looking outside and the neighbors cat came up to her and started meowing. My cat started meowing and now she's breathing really hard and is staring at him (he's laying on the patio near the screen). She's flapping her tail really hard. Is she scared? She keeps standing her paws up on the screen and meowing at him. Should I make him go away or are they just being friends?

Bella was spayed when she was 2 months old and Tiger (the neighbors cat) is neutered.

My cat is 11 mos. old. She has had diarrhea with occasional blood her whole life. She has gotten on special food for this and had numerous trips to the vet, but the problem prevails. My concern is, now, she is starting to vomit...sometimes up to 6 times a day. Usually it is just a liquid, tan in color. She also mopes around more than usual. I am very worried about her. She went to the vet yesterday and checked out "just fine". They did send her home with an antibiotic (which she hates! chicken flavored, yeah, right). Anywho, she has already vomited 3 times tonight and I just don't know what to do or think. I very rarely see hair in her puke. I do see the occasional blade or two of grass. Mostly, it's just tan liquid though. Any thoughts?
