First of all, the mother cat trains the kitten to use the box. If the kitten doesn't know how to use the box, it probably means you purchased a kitten that hasn't been fully weaned from its mother.
Stuff you need:
1) Litter box, litter for the box, liner bags, and a scoop to scoop the waste out of the box.
2) Kitten food, along with a food and water dish.
3) A crate to keep your kitten in when you are not at home or when you are sleeping. Kittens can be destructive just like puppies.
4) Toys and possible a bed.
5) You will also need to have the money to take the kitten to the vet for its first vet visit. This should be as soon as possible after you get the kitten; the vet will exam your kitten and make sure he/she is healthy and will get you set on a vaccine schedule. You will also need money to get your kitten spayed/neutered if it is not already spayed/neutered (I've noticed the kittens at our local shelter aren't even up for adoption until they are altered, but YMMV).
6) A scratching post (please don't declaw your kitten - it's inhumane).
As far as training, you will need to train it to use the scratching post and probably to stay off certain items (like the kitchen table and countertops). The time it takes will depend on how consistent you are with training and the personality of the cat (some are just easier to deal with than others). I suggest getting a cat care book at Petsmart to learn how to appropriately train your kitten.
The name is up to you.
Before you get a kitten, you really need to discuss all this with your parents since I get the feeling you are not over 18 and will not have the money to properly care for a kitten.

Ok, the most important things you'll need for your kitten are:
-a food dish & a water dish (or dispenser)
-a litterbox and litter
-a bed for your cat (since cats sleep A LOT)
-a scratching post
-and toys
Those are all the basics, anything else you want to buy for it is up to you : )
I'm not sure how long it will take for your kitty to be trained (not too long I think, because cats are very smart animals) and you only need to train it to use the litterbox, and to do that all you need to do is every time you see it peeing somewhere else take it to the litterbox, he will soon understand that that's where he needs to pee.
And as for the name, first take a look at it and also see how it behaves for a while and then choose a name (you can just post another question here after you've seen your kitty and we'll help you with that ; )
Good luck!

First, you'll need the necessities. These include a high-quality food, food dishes, litter box and litter, grooming tools (nail clippers, brush, etc.). Next comes the luxuries, although most cats rate them as necessities. These can include toys, scratching posts, cat condos, cat beds, and the list can go on and on.
Second, what do you mean by trained? If you mean litter box trained, often times just putting the cat in the litter box when you first bring him home will do the trick. It's instinct for them.
If you are talking tricks, well, that's a little harder. It's the same as training a dog, but takes much more time and effort.
As far as naming it, wait until you see the kitten. The name will often come to you right away.

Go to the local pet store, buy a book on cat care. Then you will have answers right at your fingertips on all of the topics you listed. The pet store will be able to offer advice on basic products as well. You need: a litter pan, litter and scoop, small cat dishes for kibble and water, some kitten friendly toys, and kitten food. Take the kitten to the vet for a healthy kitten check for worms etc. For training, in the beginning it is about placing the kitten in the litter pan, putting the pan somewhere easy for the kitten to get to, but tucked out of the way for privacy. Good luck, get the book.

-Food Holders can just be two bowls from walmart or any Discount store that provides such items keep water constantly in the bowl of water and feed your cat 2 or 3 times daily (oh yeh and right before you go to bed clean out the litterbox so it'll smell good in the morning when you get up)
-oh yeh and a good way to start them out in the house is to set them in the litter box right when you get it there then it'll go to the bath most of the time rught away in the litter and you wont have to clean up a unwanted mess

1. Litterbox and litter, kitten chow and a bowl for fresh water, a basket or something soft to sleep on
2. They train very quickly! Usually just a few times being placed in the litterbox (help them dig a little with a paw) will do the trick
3. Here are some good cat names - Calypso, Cricket, Cleo, Whiskers, etc.
It's also a good idea to set up an apointment with a vet to get your kitten its first shots and worming.

to start you will need a litter tray, with litter, you have to change the litter every day, and pick up the poop s throughout the day with a scoop, also a food and water bowl, pref try and get a kitten that is already litter trained, wormed and De flead, check your kittens nose and ears are clean before you choose one, as if dirty can be a sign of illness. kittens eat little and often so you will need to buy plenty of kitten food. there isn't much training to do to be honest other than litter training. try and handle your kitten as much as poss, the more you do the more friendlier an adult it will be, and make sure you get all its jabs done at the vet... most of all enjoy!!! i have 2 my self and its not going to be cheap but its worth every penny!!
oh and i would wait see what it looks like before i named it.
good luck!!

1. Don't know what age ur thinking of but this was what i found useful:
kitten food (dry and wet is good so have variation), litter and litter tray, scratch pole, comfy blanket to sleep on- mine really loved their cat basket too (esp. when left next to radiator), odour neutraliser (if not litter trained), something to cover all your wires (they like chewing on them) and fill all kitten sized holes.
2. Ours took about a week to be properly litter trained but I think they might have had some previous training..
3. Generally putting them in the litter tray every time they go to the loo or mew (this indicated mine were about to go to the loo) worked.. Also putting butter in their paws helps them find their way around as it helps leave their scent on the ground.
4. Tink, Akemi, Splodge, Jenks, Bob, Honey?

You need kitten food, water, food bowl, water bowl, kitty litter, litter box, litter scooper, toys, scratching posts, and you don't really need to train a cat, they are pretty smart, just be sure to keep showing the kitten the litterbox and placing them in there so they become familiar with it. You should name your cat something cute like Cookie!!! :) :) Good Luck!

The ICC need to make room for a Test CWC (or whatever they decide to call it). Given there is already an ODI format CWC the CT was the obvious tournament to axe. Losing the CT in return for a Test CWC is a more than fair swap IMO. BQ: Any format. Test, ODI, T20 - too much cricket is never enough. BQ2: (g) - trading up to a Test Tournament is good reason. BQ3: Maybe Red can take over from Mickey Arthur?
