If you are going to have your kitten spayed or neutered it doesn't matter if it's male or female. It will all come down to the personality of the cat. Some people believe that males are more affectionate then females or vice-versa but it's all the personality of the kitten.
Spaying and neutering will also solve any problems with spraying.

I don't think that it is the gender that makes the difference, but the individual cat. Choose a cat that seems nice when you go to adopt. Females may have kittens if you don't get them fixed, and males "spray" things to mark their teritory. I always get a girl cat because the problem of kittens can be fixed, but as far as I'm concerned the problem of "spraying" things cannot be fixed.

I have a male orange and white tabby kitten. he is very playful but also very affectionate. Go to the shelter and interact with some kittens, take the one home you have the most chemistry with. That worked for me. Good luck.

As a kitten I think females are more affectionate, but once a cat is full-grown it depends more on their unique personality, not their gender. I reccomend just choosing based on your initial bond with the cat.

I've had several cats through my years and hands down male cats are much more affectionate then female. Yes the females can be loving and such, however... they will turn on you in a minute! Cats are great pets to have. Just be sure you spay/neuter!!
Good luck!!

Well, male cats are a lot more energetic. When I adopted a male cat and left my bedroom door open when I went to sleep, he kept keeping me awake because he wanted to play, so I suggest probably getting a female. It really does depend on the personality and history of the cat, though. Just remember that you give him/her a lot of affection, and play with your cat and comb him/her everyday. I hope this helps.

Both sexes have their unique characteristics and even that is not always sex-dependent.
The best way to go is to get TWO kittens from the same litter if possible and get one of "each". You will never regret getting two as they will be companions for life and much better adjusted as cats because of that relationship, less dependent on you for everything in their life and it won't reduce their connection with you at all.

i think it really depends on the cat and the owner, i've always had male cats. thier easier and cheaper to fix. thier affectionate enough for me. very cat like. my friend has a male and female and the male is friendlier. it might be an opposite sex thing.

It doesn't depend so much on the sex, as on each cat's character and personality. Whatever you get, make sure to neuter/spay it in time, because otherwise a. it will run away, b. it will spray urine all over the house, c. it will get diseases, d. it will be more ferocious.

ok females are more calm but males are more forward. I have a female who is a "hermit crab". but one that is super sweet.
if you want a cat that will chase you around then go for the males they are more in your face about being loved then females.
