I have a little silver kitten and I think a Chinese or Oriental inspired name would suit him perfectly. However, I want it to be easily recognizable, so no "real" Chinese names that mean something translated into English. An example of what I'm looking for would be "Ping" which is easy to say and is the character of a duck in the famous children's book - or something like "Jackie Chan" which again is not a formal Chinese name and is very recognizable. Any ideas?

I've got a Japanese breed dog (Shiba Inu) and his name is Mitu (Me too). It actually means something in Japanese though. He's got a long name in Japanese (which I forget) and it translate into Mitu, the third one, bug-eater, surfer dog, sniff and pee. That's his whole name. For you? I recommend the following:
Kung-Fu
Wasabi
Happy Cat (it's a big deal in Japan)
Ninja
OOOOOhhh! What was the name of the little kitten in that Disney movie "Cats and Dogs?" You know, the gray one that was actually a spy and he had a really deep voice and coughed up a hairball that contained a grenade and had some crazy kung-fu moves? Crap. I can't remember.

A long time ago and in a different country, a favorite t.v. show of mine featured a Chinese Detective, and his faithful assistant Miss Wu The detective when he called her on the phone would always say "Hello Wu". "Wu" and her detective boss always, of course, solved the crime and got their perpetrator safely in custody.
Miss Wu was small, sleek and agile. Like her boss, she was accomplished in the martial arts, and moved with catlike speed and precision. I can't think of a more fitting name for a beautiful oriental feline, but since your cat is a male, what's wrong with Mr.Wu?

Wait until you've had a chance to get to know the cats' personalities. That's what I have always done. I just adopted an abandoned cat a week or so ago. She is part Maine coon and has a "rugged" look to her so I named her Sierra (after the Sierra Nevada mountains). It fits her. EMT

As you might know Chinese names don't have gender. So it might be a good idea to search for the Chinese word that means silvery. i say this even dough you might not agree with this idea. Or u can call him Hikary if he has real shiny fur.
