That's a long time. I would suggest calling a locksmith.

If the water bowl is emptied within a day or two and the toilet lid is down, and no water in the sink, you'll have a lot more problems with that than with no food, because without water the cat is going to be in serious trouble in hot weather. I hope the place is automatically air conditioned, as this will help, but most definately check with her about whether the toilet lid is up and how big the water bowl was. A cat can drink a 2 cup bowl dry in 3 days. If he can reach the toilet, he'll at least have water to drink.

By 'biscuits' I hope you mean cat food and not dog food.....

The landlord should be called and insist that he let you in to help the cat (insist he be there too, to avoid any misunderstandings about break ins and such).

For six days? That is a bit extreme. The cat will survive, but it will be very inhumane to let it go that long with no food. See if the apartment manager will let you in to feed the cat. Explain the situation, and say that you don't even need to get in more than once. Just leave the cat a big bowl of food.

you should ask the friend if you can break in a window or something. honestly actually might sound funny but call the cops or a locksmight they can probably get you in. that poor kitty is going to be scared for life. cats need fresh food and water EVERY DAY TWICE A DAY so the key wont be there until the 30th? that would mean the cat may very well need medical attention when you get to it. that is 6 days. he will probably be dehydrated and very very hungry but she will live for sure.

A cat left without food for more than a day or two is at risk of developing Feline Hepatic Lipidosis (a "fatty liver"), this condition is serious and can be life-threatening. Cats need fresh water DAILY.

See if her landlord can let you in to feed the cat.

Can't you get the landlord to let you in...my concern would be the water..cats cannot live long without it...and it could be knocked over or evaporated if it is warm. Food..can go for quite a while without...but this is not very humane. Get into that apt. sooner...six days is WAY too long. You might consider breaking in if nothing else..I would.

The cat will likely survive but will have lost a considerable amount of weight. The cats organs can suffer damage over that amount of time too, which may not just be temporary. If I were you I'd do whatever I can to get to the cat, and if I were your friend I'd INSIST that you do something to feed the cat!

Yes, he should be OK. I was told that cat can live without food for a day and once you brought food, he will be so very glad. My concern is more on his stress level will be very high...ie will make noises and big mess.

Get in contact with your friend...that is cruel to leave the cat without fresh water and food...

if you can't contact your Friends..call one of her family members..

she could be charged with animal neglect or cruelty if the cat is left until she gets back!

A few days to a week. As long as she has water she can last. But you need to be able to feed her ASAP!!! Good Luck!
