My cat has tape worms and supposedly she got them from swallowing an infected flea while grooming herself. If this is true could i get worms if I accidentally swallow a flea while I'm sleeping. I mean we supposedly swallow spiders all the time in our sleep, why not fleas??? Boogers (the cat) sleeps only a few inches from my head every night.

It is unlikely, but it IS possible, with a higher possibility in children. You can get tape worm tablets just about anywhere. I'd keep the kitty off my pillow until she was treated!

They swallow fleas because they groom their fur a lot during the day, having one hanging onto the loose hair ends up going down their throat when they swallow, so a cat can get a flea this way where WE as people, would not. Fleas like to stay on animals, not people (we don't have fur they can hide in and we don't taste good to them) so you're safe even if your cat sleeps right up against your head at night.

(I think the rule about the spiders is that we swallow an average of only seven small ones during our lifetime, not all the time. For that I'm very glad!)

Yes. Told to me by the vet who diagnosed and treated my kitty for tapeworms. Not true tho that we get them from fleas. We get the actual worms from surfaces that the cat has been on.

I'd get Boogers treated for the worms and maybe some treatment for yourself too. Just in case. Since she sleeps on your pillow she may have left worms behind.
