A simple light reflection can make a black cat's fur look "oily". But they are plain black normally. We see them "oily" because of light :)

We used to feed our cats Iams. A few months ago we switched to a purely organic no grain food called Innova Evo. Basically the best thing you can feed your cat for dry food. I hate to sound like a commercial but we noticed that their coats were getting silky smoothe to the touch. In light, it had the appearance of an "oily" look but believe or not, our fingertips have more oil than the cat hair. Despite the appearance, I guess it means their coats are shiny and healthy. So if have a cat that looks or seems oily, be glad, chances are he/she is probably real healthy. It's all a good thing.

It is just because it is a black cat. Black cats and dogs' coats shine more than any other colour and probably looks a bit oily.

Sleek and shiny black fur. Isn't it beautiful? It means the cat is healthy. If the black gets discolored or 'rusty' looking then there is a problem. Otherwise the cat is quite normal and probably very lovely.
Cheers!

black cats don't have oily fur its just like that because of the light that reflects on the cats fur.

i have a black cat named hope and her fur doesn't feel oily but lookes it if you never petted her.
it looks olily because black blocks all the other colors and reflects light a lot better.

It's natural. And cats with some Siamese in their ancestry all show this type of coat, it's inherited from the Siamese genes.

i have 3 black cats, one long hair, one medium, and one short. the short hair is fine just sheds a lot. the medium has thick fur and looks dull when i haven't brushed him, and he gets dandruff if i don't brush him regularly. the long hair is the one that tends to get oily. just like humans, they can have oily hair. i have to brush her daily to keep the oil away, and she can get flakes too. they can get oily hair if they are stressed out too. the key is to brush at least once a day, see how that goes, and if that doesn't help, ask your vet what you can feed her to help with it.

I prefer hair which is shoulder length or longer, As well as since that men who like females are more often then not directly, they like long hair because it looks more feminine, as most men have short hair.
