if you love your cat, just get him the meds he needs! go to the nearest pet co or vet and I'm sure they can get you something!

I'm glad you love your cat :)

Get some flea shampoo and wash your cat with it. If he has all four sets of claws, this may be a little more difficult than you would want...So you might want to get a claw clipper to shorten his front claws.
Just follow the instructions on the shampoo bottle, then do this-
Get a flea powder. Sprinkle it all over your carpet then vacuum it up, and get rid of any towels or clothing on the floor, as this is where the lavae and eggs are.
There is also another treatment that is very effective. It's kind of a medicine, but it doesn't cost much and you can get it from the store. It's a drop that you put on the back of the cat's neck. This REALLY works especially if you do everything else also.

Remember this-if your cat goes outside at any time, he is at risk of getting fleas again. The good thign about the drop is that it not only kills fleas, it keeps them away, so you might want to keep up with the drop treatment, which you only have to do once a month.

Hope I helped you some. :)

The best way to get rid of fleas for good (as long as your cat is an indoor cat) is to treat the carpet (especially around baseboards and under furniture) with 120-day carpet spray, available at the pet store. Get some of the topical flea meds that include a reproduction inhibitor (think birth control for fleas!). Once you have treated the carpet and the cat, the fleas should go away and stay away unless a new source of fleas is introduced. This would be a one-time expense and not a monthly flea meds expense! I personally used Revolution on all four of my cats and sprayed the carpet before we moved in a year and a half ago and haven't had a single flea! That's amazing in Florida in the summer!!!

Make sure that you DO NOT use a flea/tick shampoo that's meant for dogs. Some of those are orange-oil based; orange oil is bad for cats (they have thin skin, which is very easy to irritate).

You've already received good advice about killing the fleas on the cat. I'm a big fan of the lemon dishsoap and flea comb, myself.

But you also have to treat your house - particularly the areas where your cat hangs out. If she has machine-washable bedding, you're in luck: just throw it in.

Find a flea collar and throw it into the vacuum cleaner bag. Then vacuum the heck out of every carpeted surface in the house. Take out the vacuum bag and dump it into a plastic bag, then close it up and throw the whole thing into an outside trash can or Dumpster.

That sort of thing.

Pet Supermarket and Petco have some really good remedies for fleas and ticks. You can start off by buying a flea and tick shampoo.

You wash you cat and lather on the shampoo, and when you do, don't wash it off immediatley. Let it stay on for two minutes. It works better that way, and it kills the fleas and ticks much better than just washing it off quick.

You can also try flea and tick collars which are really good. They release some sort of chemical to rid of the fleas and it works good.

Then there's also the old fashioned way. Picking them out when you see them. But not with your hands. Use a cloth, or paper towel. Then you squash them, but you have to do it real hard because ticks don't die very easily by just being crushed normally.

And also, if your cat goes outside, limit the times he goes outside. Fleas and ticks like to hang out in the grass, where a lot of cats are vulnerable to them. Check your cat once he comes back inside.

First don't add garlic to your cat's diet. Very dangerous to cats. I've used Dawn dish soap and a flea comb, because the kittens were only seven weeks and couldn't use chemicals... painstaking but it works. If you can afford, though, the Frontline from the vet is the best. It starts to kill fleas within a short time and continues to kill them (so if there are any eggs in your carpet that you miss and then they hatch, it will kill them when they jump onto your cat). That can be used on cats as young as eight weeks, and it works the best.

You can place the cat in a mess laundry bag, place in the tub and wash with HARTZ Foaming Flea Foam shampoo for cats. Leave on for 5 min. rinse and then comb out the flea eggs and dead fleas with a flea comb. You need to also treat your carpets with a flea powder then vacum up and trash your bag. If you try to do it with out a flea chemical you will not win the war on flea's. Keep the cat inside after you treat the cat and the floor. Go to your local walmart or petsmart and look at Hartz 4n1 or 3n1 products for cats. Great price and they work.

If you really loved him you'd go buy Advantage or something and stop letting him get all bit up by fleas.

I agree w/ the garlic comment you received earlier.
But in all honesty products such as FRONTLINE are by far your best bet. It not only kills fleas and ticks the instant they bite their host animal...this prevents them from reproducing and infesting your home. Garlic and dish soap can not, and having to bomb your home is not only costly but a pain in the @#*.
