My cat has some black spots on her bottom lip. They are very hard and are bumps. I took her into see my vet awhile ago, and my vet said she had acne. I had never heard of cats getting acne before. Should I start her on the hydrogen peroxide that he prescribed for her (put a little bit on the area 2 times a day)? I'm kind of worried of doing this. Any opinions would be thankful. Thanks ahead of time!!

I went to petsmart.com and bought some of those catwipes, and a couple of new ceramic dishes one for her food and one for her water. Hopefully with all this, we can get these bumps cleared up. I'm going to try this method first before using the vets recommendation. I just don't feel right using that stuff. Thanks!

This is very common. My cat has it. It gets worse when I'm out of town, because stress makes it gets worse and she doesn't like being alone.

Go to the pet store and buy some cat bath wipes - they're only about $4 per pack, you heat one in the microwave for a few seconds then wash her chin and face with it. She'll probably love it - my cat does. Then put a little dab of neosporin on the spot.

Also, make sure she does not eat or drink out of a plastic dish. Many times this is what causes the acne to start. Get a ceramic bowl for her instead.

My cat gets that sometimes, too. My vet also called it feline acne but didn't prescribe any treatment. I don't think it's any big deal.

i hv the same prob, the difference is my vet doesnt even know what it is. but from my reading i know that it is acne. some says it because the cat eat from a plastic bowl. u might wanna change ur cat's bowl if its plastic. i dunno if its gonna help cuz i didnt try it. my cat doesnt seem to mind bout her acne so i jus let her be.

DON'T USE ANY HUMN TREATMENT ON YOUR CAT!!!!!!!
An allergic reaction or worse can happen. If her acne is bothersome ask your vet for advice. Watch for any discharge, color changes or other changes they could be life threatening or infections.

I would listen to your veterinarian. They are the best in this field. That's what they go to so much college for! Hope your cat gets better!

it could be the cats water or food bowl. if your using plastic, switch to a glass bowl.that may clear it up.

If he prescribed it, I would at least try it. If you are scared to, get a second opinion. You could have them biopsied. They could be mast cell carcinomas, which is skin cancer. It's treatable if caught early.
