If the kitty is just picky try this. Otherwise take it to the vet to find out why it is refusing food.

Get a couple jars of meat baby food stage one so it is pure without garlic or onions which can cause deadly heinz body anemia in cats and dogs. Get the chicken or turkey. Veal usually it too rich and so may cause vomiting. get a bit on your finger and hold it near your pet. if that doesn't work very quickly brush his/her lips with your finger and stand back. give kitty a chance to lick it's lips and find out how yummy it is. Once you get kitty eating again start offering real food. baby food does not have enough vitamins and minerals for a cat to live upon but is OK for a few days to get a picky or sick animal back on track.

Try tuna, few cats can resist!

To get them back on regular cat food, try warming it to body temperature. This makes it more smelly, and cats generally like to be able to smell their food before they eat it. Also try making it mushy (mashing with water). Basically give whatever you think they might like until the appetite is fully back. Vets also have convalescence food, and liquid food which is very helpful.

If you don't know why your cat has no appetite (you didn't say) there is probably a medical reason so he'll need to be seen by a vet.

I have a very fussy cat - she will only eat certain types of dry food. My vet told me that after they have been ill and are in the recovery period, try them with some tinned mackarel, they adore it, especially if you can find it in tomato sauce! Some plain boiled chicken usually works too.

try warming the food, sometimes putting some on a paw will encourage them as they will have to lick it off, i've also heard a few drops of vanilla will help.
these techniques mainly work with dry food. If you have changed food brands make sure you do it over a period of two weeks.
If its dry food, playing with it may help

Make him smell tuna, or sprinkle some catnip around his food. If that doesn't make him want to eat, then he should go to a vet. He can be sick, since cats are good at hiding diseases.
