I have two male cats and I don't know if it is only one of them or both, that have been doing their business in other places besides the cat litter box. It drives me crazy because I haven't caught them in the act but I hate the stench. Anyone got any good tips in stopping this kind of behavior?

I agree with the statement above me, you do have alot of good suggestions.
Be really anal with the litter, scoop it out 2 times a day even and make sure you change it out completely, at least every 2 weeks.
Cats love a clean litter box.
To get the smell out I use bleach and pine sol, but make sure you open a window and don't let your cats near where you are cleaning till its dry.
To get the smell out of clothes or blankets wash them in hot water a few times, that always works for me!
Good luck!

Yes: Get them fixed if they aren't!

First - one or both is trying to tell you something. Usually a sign of distress. Try to figure out what's new/different. Could be sick as well. Did you call your vet? They are likely to have the best answers.

I have a cat door for this reason: No litter in the house - no stench! Not everyone can do this but it is a GREAT thing if you can.

You might also want to Google this because I have read other causes that I can' remember right now, and there are sure to be articles on this situation.

First, get them checked by a Vet for urinary tract infections or disease. Once that's ruled out or treated, try using a citrus smelling spray wherever they have urinated. You can buy this spray in the pet department of most stores. I can't remember the name of the one I bought but there are a few different kinds put out by different companies. Most cats really dislike citrus and it blocks the smell so they won't keep going in that spot. It worked well on my cats when we moved and they went in a corner of the new house to mark their territory.

getting them fixed will definitely help with that. If they are fixed, than most likely they aren't happy with where there litter box is, or if its not clean enough. You might also need to get two, since you have two cats (some are very picky..) but try that and hopefully it will work.

Follow the other good suggestions: Go to the vet to check for problems. Are they neutered?

Do you have a litter box for each one?
