One of his pupils is average size for the condition of light he is under, but the other one is really small. I've noticed it a bit in the last couple of days but today it is OBVIOUS. The one that is smaller seems to get sort of big really fast but then it goes back to being small right away.

It is possible that he was born that way, since you didn't say this was a recent development. It would not be unusual nor affect his sight greatly if he were.

If this is a recent development, there could be something that is irritating the right eye and causing it to be hyper sensitive to light, which accounts for the contracted pupil. Cats have two visual pathways, where the human brain creates a single path that merges what is seen by both eyes. This would account for the sensitivity only showing in one eye.

It is possible that he has been injured, has a neurological problem, or has some illness that affects the brain. Throwing up by itself is not of great concern, but if his activity and appetite has decreased, it is worth a trip to the vet for your peace of mind.

Has he fallen, or gotten hit in the head? In some it is normal that the pupils aren't the same size, it can be an inherited condition. But most pupils will constrict and dilate with the light change.

Could be anything from a nerve disorder, a hit on the head or injury, result of a medication, even food poisoning, or diabetes.. I would have him checked out, especially if you notice dizziness or anything else out of the ordinary.

Common Causes:

* Bleeding inside the skull caused by head injury
* Brain tumor or abscess
* Infection of membranes around the brain caused by meningitis or encephalitis
* Expanding brain lesion such as an aneurysm
* Excess pressure in one eye caused by glaucoma
* Birth injury, tumor in the chest, or lymph-node pressure that may be accompanied by decreased sweating on the side with a dilated pupil or drooping eyelid on the affected side
* Eye-drops

The answer is yes. Take him to the vet IMMEDIATELY. The pupil constriction is called anisocoria, and can be caused by cancer, infection, or some kind of trauma.

Poor kitty. If he was mine I'd be asking a vet fast, sounds like he doesn't feel good so I wouldn't wait. Good luck

Try his vet to see if there is a problem or just something that he could have had in birth

Take him to see his vet! This sounds like a neurological problem, and the longer you wait, the worse it could get. Don't let your kitty suffer, and don't let him lose his vision (or worse.) :(

He's probably interested in something. Or, his eyes are bothering him. You might try taking him to the vet for a check up.
