This has happened to me several times, when I am eating imitation crab (made with fish). My cat sniffs at it, and I figure she'll eat it since it's fish, but all she does is smell it and then disdain it. Maybe your cat thought what you were eating would taste good, but a closer inspection changed her mind.

Actually, some 'human food' is really good for cats. How could a piece of chicken possibly be bad for a cat? What do you think outdoor cats eat when master isn't home to fill the kitty bowl with food?
My cat does the staring practice all too often. It gets really creepy, especially when they never blink.

My cat always comes and begs for what I eat...she doesn't do it because she's hungry...she does it because it's her nature...
I believe that in her mind...mommy eats it....so it MUST be good!
Most of the times I don't give her food from my plate...what I give her is little bites of cheese or sometimes yoghurt...
She eats those...but if I try to give her...let's say meat or fish...9 out of ten times she smells it and goes away...
This behaviour has troubled me a lot...not about the reason she does it...but about the quality of what I eat...
Let's say I trust her insticts:-)

Cats are perpetually on some kind of kitty high. They do things that make no sense to the rest of us. Chalk it up to kitty weirdness.

Why would that thing bother you? Cats will eat their food whenever they are hungry but will snub any food if they are full.
