I have a cat hes going to be 2 this july and we are moving to a new house in september how do I keep him from running a way.I was thinking of keeping him in the garage for a month or so and taking him out everyday to see where we are and taking him out for feedings in the back yard then letting him lose in the back yard (its fenced in) I have moved twice with him and each time I start with him inside then let him outside he always comes back and sleeps in his kitty bed on the porch. Do you think my idea will work, or anyone have any others?

Is this normal? i got a cat a couple of months ago and she hardly meows. And when she does its so quiet and pathetic of a meow. And when she was around another cat and that cat was hissing at her, she just opens her mouth but nothing comes out. Is it just that she is a sweetheart and doesnt have a mean bone in her body?

Our cat, Zeke, neutered male, 12 yrs old, loves milk.
We use 1% fat, and only give him a little.
When I open the box of cereal and get out the milk, he's right there, andmeows likehe hasn't had anything to eat in a week.
Will milk hur him??? Any comments or suggestions.

We have a cat and lately she started sleeping in the bed with us. She doesn't leave the house ever. Are there any illness humans can "catch" from a cat?

He just showed up in my garage and seems very happy. He is tiny, probably less than a year old. Not the most people friendly, but he warmed up to us after a couple weeks.
He looks to be underweight, are there any supplements he should have?
Any vaccinations? (Rabbies will be done with the neutering)

My husband's family is moving in with us next week. Three of them. We have two cats that we love and adore. Unfortunately, their bedroom will now be my mother-in-law's bedroom. They live in the house, they are not outdoor cats and that will not change. The house is theirs to roam and sleep and whatever. The only problem is that at night we shut the door to their room (it's a big room) with their water and litter box because they like to run around and play at night. They jump all over us and we can't sleep. So we keep them in their room at night. But now, they don;t have a room. I can't let them roam the house and shut the bedroom doors because they will meow and scratch all night for someone let them in. I was thinking about opening the door between the laundry room and garage and letting them sleep in there. It will be warm in the laundry room where we can keep their food and beds, but they can run in the garage. Would this be a good idea? I want to make sure they are ok at night.

My indoor cat is getting a lil chubby, and I want to make sure I'm not overfeeding her. I understand indoor cats tend to be a little heavier... but I dont want her to be overweight.

Hello ! I have recently purchased a very cute 8 week old kitten and love him to pieces.

I have a few questions though that some of you experts might be able to help with.

1) One of his paw pads seems to have turned partly black (was all pink) could this be a bruise? and if so will it heal itself, or is there another possibility?

2) My other two cats (6 and 7 years) are having difficulties adapting to the new arrival. Any tips on how to help things work out easier and how long can I look at this stand off continue. Should I let them all just run around in the same room. Will my cats kill the kitten given half a chance?

3) I am looking to get him a female play mate, any tips on how to choose the perfect partner?

Thanks !!!

He gets a persistant cough usually in the spring. I have taken him to the vet before and she gives him antibiotics and decongestant...unfortunately right now I have no money to pay for a vet visit. I was curious if I use a childs decongestant if that might help him. He is still eating and drinking fine he is just coughing sometimes.

Last week I took my cat outside. He ate some grass. I scared him by picking him up mid bite. Since then he's got a wheezing, kind of a cough/sneeze sound. He does it every few hours, just 3 or 4 times then he's fine. He doesn't have a hairball. I give him coconut oil regularly. He has also lost some equallibrium. He's 10 years old. The sneezing doesn't bother me as much as the loss of balance. When he jumps he misjudges distance and falls. Could the 2 be related? What is wrong with my only child?

My cat was hit by a car a few days ago and while she didn't break any bones, she tore a ligament (or maybe it's a tendon) in her knee that's causing her a lot of pain. We have the option of putting a splint on it for 6wks or having surgery to repair it. Just wondering if anyone has an experience either way with what our best option would be. They say she might blow out her knee later in life and that she'll have bad arthritis if we don't get the surgery... but it is very expensive. Thanks.

My cat has chronic UTI problems and I think it is because of the dry Iams food she is addicted to. Sometomes she will eat a little canned Iams but not often enough to make her well. I hoe I can reverse her condition by changing her diet. I want to get her off the Iams completely and on to a raw food diet. How do I do this? How can I get her to eat the raw food? Where and what raw food should I get and how should she be fed? how often and how much? Should I give her other foods in addition to the raw meat?

Female cat, 8 years old. Medium sized.

I posted a question yesterday.. I found that 2 adult cats and a few kittens were living under my house. Everyone who answered the question was helpful and told me to call rescue shelters and socialize with the cats. The kittens look about 6 weeks. HERE is the problems I forgot to mention. I have a six year old dog and his doggy door is on the other side of a gate where the cats go in and out of under the house. my dog goes absolutely mad when he sees them. This is the ONLY reason why I haven't brought the kittens in the house. I don't know what to do. If I lock my dog in a room, he will tear up the carpet if I bring in kittens. I can set up a trap and at least catch the adult cats, but I really have nowhere to set the kittens and play with them or anything.

My other problem is I've seen 2 male cats and 4 kittens. How do I know there aren't more under the house? I don't want to close off the area without making sure they are all out from underthere..
