I have 26 indoor cats and 8 of them have the Bartonella Virus, also known in Humans as Cat Scratch Disease. It has to be 'active' to be able to transfer. You can get your cat tested for this, a very inexpensive test actually.
I never knew about this until Felix showed inflammed gums, etc, my vet decided to check him and turned out he had that disease and it was active. Antibiotics for him and the same for me, as I had this disease as well (you'll feel tired). Other than that, I don't think there is anything else that can be transmitted.

The two illnesses I KNOW can be gotten from cats is from a kitten 3 months of age or younger that has fleas. If it scratches or bites you it can give you Cat Scratch Disease.
The feces in the litterbox must be handled carefully as they can give you a disease also... toxoplasmosis, I think...
Any cat scratch can make you sick.
Other than that, for the most part, cat's generally don't get illnesses that they can transmit to their human family members.

Yeah, of course you can just like they can catch some things from us like, strep throat.
But, keep in mind, just because you let it sleep with you doesn't mean it will make you more likely to get sick from it. I'd be more concerned about the counter tops and the kitty feet.
And you can actually get pretty nasty scratches from bacteria on the feet.

Although, I think its pretty rare...

there is a chance that you can get little infectious bugs/sickness from little things that just crawl under things and get in, a house is never clear of those kind of things.
some of these things can't live on a humans body, but there are a few things that can. you shouldn't worry though because things lyk that don't happen that often.

It is possible though highly unlikely if your cat never goes outside or has contact with other animals.

Yes. Toxoplasmosis (I think that's the correct name, anyhow). You catch it from bacteria in a sick cat's feces.
