I want a kitten, but my momma & two little brothers wants a puppy. My mom said that cats stink. Do they stink? Because I don't think they do. I've been around lots of cats, and Ive never smelt a cat in my life. So do they stink? I hate puppies & dogs.

I have had cats my entire life, and I am still trying to find the best way to hide the litter box and the smell.. What have you found that works best for you? Which litter products? What about those cat cabinets that you can hide the litter box inside of? Do you use a litter liner or no litter liner?? I have already tried the litter maid and did not like it so much... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I've never had a kitten before. I know cats have a very unique digestive system. When I pick him up or hold him close to me I notice like a gurgling sound coming out of his body and I feel like a vibrating moting running up and down the length of his body. Is this normal. Like I said this is my first time with cats.

I am adopting an approximately 2 year old female, spayed Russian Blue/DSH mix that was rescued from a feral colony. She was going to be spayed and returned to the colony, but they discovered she is very friendly and decided to find her a forever home. She has lived with her foster mom for about a month now, and she's very shy but not aggressive. She hasn't scratched or bitten anyone, but she has her spot behind a door where she always hides (till it's time to eat). When you can get her to come out, she loves to be scratched behind the ears and pet. I know it will take her some time, but does anyone have any suggestions for how I can make her transition to my home easier and less stressful? I am hoping she won't be the cat that I never see, so how long should I give her to "come out of her shell?"

I just want to say off the bat that I am not complaining.. Just Curious!!
I got my cat when he was 1 1/2 , and he has been neuturerd and declawed in the front.
When I sleep at night my cat lays with me just like a human would, head on pillow, body laying long, and puts his paws either on my face or on my neck/ higher chest area. And he Purrs really really loud. I know of other cats that are really quite purrers. Is that normal? Thanks

Maverick - my 2yr old male cat has been acting strangely the past 2 days.
Yesterday he was acting as if he'd seen a ghost - he was looking at something, became scared, howled and ran under the bed.
Tonight, he was playful, then became very still, started looking at something and something in his face changed.
His pupils were dialated, left one much larger than the other, and he had a very slight twitching of his head. My roommate said it was like he was trying to see and couldnt.
He seemed to snap out of it after about an hour and he is sleeping now.
The look on his face, his movements, his eyes told me something did and was happening to him.
Can someone give me any idea's what could be wrong
Could this be some indication of poisoning or seisures or mini strokes or ????????

My fixed male cat likes to stand on the tiger and flex his paws into the back of the stuffed cat almost like he wants to breed it. Then he turns into circles and lays down and sleeps for hours on this stuffed tiger... my cat is completely nuts!!! This is a weird behavior that I have never saw before. It's funny to watch him.

Does anyone ever had a miracle happen for a cat that seemed to be going to die? My cat has a big cold and got better last week..., but it is now back again and this morning one vet suggested that she should be put to sleep...that she was suffering and that I should feel guilty for not having her put to sleep last week..... He refused to give her antibiotics and I had to go to another vet.... She got her antibiotics there, but was told that there could be some other reasons for the cold...
and she may not make it.... She doesn't have anything wrong, but she is an older cat (age unknown)....The second vet says her liver seems to have PERHAPS a problem, and that if she is not better by morning, best to put her to sleep... She is no more weaker than last week right when she got better... She is sneesing....and of course weak of not eating, but to put her to sleep for a cold? Isn't this far too simple? She may be suffering, of course weakening..., but last week she got better in 24 hrs.

Help! Some nasty kids were messing around with 4 kittens earlier today. I took them away because they were so little. I talked to some people, they said they might be like 2 weeks old since they opened their eyes. Anyhoo, I bought some milk replacer for kittens, and a bottle. Got them a warm box, a blanket, and some heat (heated half a cup of uncooked rice in the microwave- I got the idea from Kittens for Dummies). Now what do I do? I'm seriously terrified i'm going to do more damage than good. Sugguestions?

I saw a kitten astray yesterday and the kid in me just acted up again. It's really thin that its bones are sticking out. It won't eat. I'm guessing that it's still in need of its mother's milk. What can i substitute the mother's milk for? I tried giving it this powdered milk but it just doesn't want it. Need help here before it starves itself to death.

I don't understand Vegans. I work at a pet store and for the 3rd time, a vegan asks me if there is a meat alternative cat or dog food. Today , I sold a kitten and I immediatly recommended her on what types of food she should feed the cat. She refused to buy any meat products. I asked my manager if I could take then kitten back, my manager told me just to let it go.

How could vegans support animals, and then torture cats and dogs by feeding them vegetarian foods?

No wrong or right question here..

Did you know that when cats rub themselves on you they want something? And it seems like they love you... They don't.. They want some thing good to eat.. Don't let Cats fool you.. Your thoughts are important..

she is scratching around her bowl, as if she is burying something... she isn't urinating on the bowl or anything like that, she just seems kind of lost. she eats and drinks because when we come home we see her food and water levels lower. just wondering... she has a slight slight bit of her sniffling/cold leftover from the kennel. Also, would giving her small amounts of skim milk affect something like this? the vet said it was bad, but didn't explain why.

My cat has recently developed an obsession with my bath tub. He's in my tub every day, and if I lock him out of the bathroom he sits at the door and whines. He gets alot of attention and I play with him for hours every day, so I don't think it's boredom. He likes to drink the faucet water, but when its not on he just sits in the bath tub for as long as I let him. Is there something wrong with him, or is he just weird?

I love Hazel but I have a healthy cat already and cannot risk bringing her home. Still actively trying to find her a home but she is currently living in a small comfortable room at my workplace with no windows. I feel she must be bored, she LOVES me but I can't spend that much time with her and I feel guilty every time I leave her. I know she's better off than where she was but if I can't find her a loving home that she deserves, do you think she's ok where she is? i have to protect her fiv status, keep her indoors and clean and healthy but I feel so bad that she has no company. Please help, my heart breaks more every day.

Tomorrow I'm going to go and choose a kitten and me and my brother are trying to think of names in advance. We're buying a female kitten but we don't really mind if we choose a name that isn't strictly female. We both like Japanese animation and games and these are the names we've so far come up with:
Kyo - Fruits Basket
Kuja - Final Fantasy 9
Laguna - Final Fantasy 8
Squall - Final Fantasy 8
Taka - Fushigi Yugi
Any favorites from this list or do you know any other good Japnese names?

I recently had a small dish of olives I was snacking on. I turned my head for one minute and looked again to find my kitty lapping up the salty olive water and nibbling a pimento! Are olives and/or the juice harmful to cats? Should I just indulge her and let her lap up tiny bit of the salty water?

She is also keeping me awake early morning and won't let me nap in peace some afternoons. If there is a vet you know here in Virginia, with an email address, let me know. Thanks. She's a total nightmare!!!
