i just adopted a cat from the animal shelther this monday. he's the sweetest thing. for the last couple of days, he's been either coughing, choking of sneezing, i can't tell. then tonight while he sat on my lap, he started choking really bad w/ his tongue sticking out. eventually he stopped after 30 sec of that and walked to the litterbox, then afterwards went to eat. is this a cause of hairballs? i'm worried. he's always had a low toned meow / purr, could this be why?

I am currently living on a farm. We have 3 outdoor cats, and strays/feral cats are always coming around. An orange tabby had been coming around more and more. We started finding him sleeping with our cats during the colder nights, and unlike the feral cats.. he seemed curious about us instead of scared. He broke his leg, and we just had it fixed (and had 2 pieces of buck shot removed from his leg)! He is currently confined in the barn and recovering. He was an angel through the whole process, nicer than any of our other cats!
When he gets well we will stay here for a few months, then I am considering taking him with me when I move to the city. I will be living in an apartment with a balcony. I can set the balcony up so he can go out and play... but I know I will be working 80 hour weeks and won't be home much. Do you think he would be able to adjust? Would it make it better if I got another cat for him to play with because he seems to enjoy being around others so much?

I have an older cat that i need to move from Texas to Georgia. I don't think she'll tolerate the trip very well. She sees her kennel transporter as the great satan. Does anyone have experience with sedating a cat at the vet? how long it lasts? or better yet, is there a way to just ship her across the country? I wouldn't even know where to start looking for a way to do this, but I think it would be best for her to get it over with quickly. Any tips would be appreciated. thanks.

I have a cat that is over 2 years old,but I had a baby 8 months ago and I think the cat is peeing on things because he is jealous. I didn't think they did this if they were fixed. What can I do to stop it?

My adult indoor cat, i have owned for aprox. 8 years is so fat it appears one could 'milk' her. Not attractive!
I give her lower cal. food, however, if she even sees the bottom of her bowl she will HARRASS you, yowl, circle and in general get her way.
She is a tard!
I worry about diabeties and heart problems.

Ever since it started to get warmer out side my cat has started having the sneezes. He seems perfectly healthy besides his sneezing. Can cats get allergies?

My cat JJ, always when he sees me, he always show him his stomeck, and he will always lay on his back, and when I'm done washing the dishes, or doing something , he would start to purr, and lay dowen, and smile at me. And start to roll over, till I pet him. Or pick him up.

We are looking after a stray cat, who is pregnant. She startred to cry and ask for reassurance and then a lot of watery stuff came out just 15 minutes ago. Then she went to this dark place inside the cabinet, where she is hiding and resting. She does not make any noise. Is this normal? How soon should she have contractions? I never had this dilemma before! Help!

I have a 9 week old kitten (male) and recently got a 6 week old kitten (female). The female kitten is suckling on the males pads on his paws. Is this normal or should i try and stop it? It doesn't seem to hurt him.

I understand cats are nocturnal, but our kittens decide they want to play hockey and kitten-derby at 11 at night and 4 in the morning but they sleep all day. Is there any way we can switch that around by changing feeding times or something? We try playing with them right before bed but that just winds them up more. Any thoughts?
