There is a product that can be used to reduce stress in cats but I can't remember the name of it. Is it helpful to use it in situations other than changing their environment or introducing a new animal into the household?

I work part-time between 8:15am and 3:30pm and I'm wondering whether that's too long to leave a cat alone. I'd buy one of those radio controlled cat flaps so at least it could get out if it wants too. What do you think?

2 of the cats are 5 years old and one of the cats is 2 years old. 1 of the cats is overweight. How do you put just the 1 cat on a diet? The 2 older cats were born outside and rescued by the feline association so they have always been a bit nervous around people and don't like to be handled. This makes it difficult to pick up the overweight one and put him outside so the other 2 can eat more. The overweight one doesn't like to go outside as much and as a result doesn't get enough exercise. I'm not sure how to fix this problem.

in a basement section under my garage. I am not sure what to do! I have heard one kitten meowing when the queen leaves the nest to eat in my mudroom (about 40 feet away from her nest) but I don't know how many kittens she had, or if they are well or not, if they are warm enough, or even if they are safe from all the other stray toms in the neighborhood. Since I started feeding her about 2 months ago, I noticed she seemed to be growing bigger and I realized she was pregnant. She eats several times a day, and generally goes back to her nest after eating, but I am worried about the kitten/s, being in a cold basement, with this winter storm, and worried about what I should do in the future with them. I don't want to let them be feral, but I am afraid if I try and go into the basement to see them when the mother is off on her wanderings, then she will smell me on them if I touch them to try and socialize them, and then she will move them somewhere more unsafe. Pls help! What should I do?

I am going to meet a 2 year adult cat tomorrow to see if I should adopt it. Does anyone have any advice or any key things I should look out or consider before adopting it? ( I would be a new cat owner). Whether it be health issues, personality traits.. anything would be great help! THanks!

I might consider adopting a cat that has not been declawed. What should I be aware that a cat can scratch if it does not scratch its scratching post? I'm aware of cats scratching furniture. Will it scratch tv screens, laminate flooring, cupboards, wall? I want to know how bad it can get. Thanks!

I am at the stage in the process where Romeo is in his cat box on top of the toilet. He jumps up on his own without fear. However, when I lower the litter into a smaller bowl (that fits flush with the toilet seat), he doesn't know what to do. The space is smaller, and he gets so frustrated that he just jumps down without having gone at all. So I replaced the smaller bowl from inside of the toilet, to his box on top of the lid again. Any tricks to help him out?

We have a 3 month old kitten. He is sweet, cuddly, healthy, and playful. He likes to pounce on our hands and feet, our dog, and our furniture. It is just in play, but sometimes he does it with his claws out. Ouch! We would like to avoid having him declawed if possible. Is there a way to train a cat that it is OK to play with his people and other pets and it is OK to sit on the couch, but that it is not OK to do these things with his claws?

My little kitty was run over by a car last Saturday, thankfully he survived but suffered a badly broken pelvis. He has been in the vet's care all week, first with a local vet and then on Wednesday he was transferred to a specialist who performed surgery on one side of his pelvis on Thursday. This went well but the vet said it was best to keep him in over the weekend to see how the other side is doing. When I visited my little cat this morning the vet said, all being well, I should be able to bring him home on Monday. I am so happy! I have spoken in length with the vet about the practical care he should receive when at home. My cat is only 2 and a real live wire. He will have to be kept in a cage at home for at least the next few weeks and I know that this will be really traumatic for him, I am wondering if anyone has done this before and has any advice on his emotional welfare? Many thanks!

I took in an adult abandoned cat in February, In the past month I notice he has a few bald spots, one spot on his neck has a healing scratch, the other is on his chest just above his left leg that is larger but no apparent injury... Its just bald. What are the symtoms of mange? He seems to be very healthy and happy otherwise.

I have a 5.5 yr old female cat who has not been spayed yet. I think that this is the main cause of my problems. Recently she has urinated in places other than her litter box, which is uncommon of her. Our environment has not changed, so she hasn't experienced any stress. I took a urine sample to the vet a few days ago and it came back negative for blood. However, now her urine is pink and she is going where ever. Not even close to the litter box. We have isolated her to the bathroom, so she doesn't ruin the whole house. Any suggestions? If it is a urinary tract infection, how long can treatment be prolonged? It's Saturday and I wasn't able to get an appt until Monday. Thanks!

We adopted a 3 yr. old cat from a well known store. We were assured she had all her shots etc. and treated for fleas. However she does have fleas. Never having to treat fleas before, I went to store, purchased a brand of flea control. They do not sell Frontline or Advantage there. Will this work? I shook out all her bedding etc. and have it in the wash. Can you tell me if Borax as treatment is effective for carpeting etc. I don't know what to do and don't want them all over my home. She is in a seperate room right now while being introduced to an older cat so they haven't spread and the older cat does not have them - yet. Does sprinkling Borax all over the carpeting and letting it sit for several hours or overnight actually work? Any other suggestions? Please help! PS. Kitty only has back claws but has scratched herself raw in the neck area. I keep combing her with a flea comb and constantly getting 5 or 6 off each time so I'm guessing they are in the carpet?

I have two cats, a girl and a boy. They don't go outside, AT ALL. I don't allow them to go out due to fleas, other animals, etc. But they have ruined all furniture that I have. I am getting ready to get a new apartment and get a new couch, and other various items. I just don't know if I should get their claws removed though because it's permanant and they are ages 2 and 1. So it will be tough. But I still kind of want to because they have ruined everything in my apartment.
