There is a product that can be used to reduce stress in cats but I can't remember the name of it. Is it helpful to use it in situations other than changing their environment or introducing a new animal into the household?

Rescue Remedy is probably the one you are thinking of. It is widely used and readily available in health food stores. It is a combination of five Bach flower essences and there are 38 Bach essences in all - often used in combinations. There is also a whole "line" of North American essences.

There is no single one to reduce stress specifically (except the RR covers a lot of situations) and you usually need to pinpoint the cause of the stress when choosing the most effective essence.

You can go to http://www.spiritessence.com and read about the use of the flower essences with cats. Dr. Jean Hovfe has developed quite a few of her own combinations to treat various health and/or emotional issues with cats. You can even call her in CO and state your problem and have her make a recommendation for you.

Rescue Remedy. It is Found in most health food stores and sometimes pharmacies. It is not just for cats. It works for humans and all kinds of animals. I use rescue remedy when I fly overseas, When I make public speaches and when I am nervous or just bouncing off of the walls. Rescue Remedy can be used in any situation that makes you or someone else nervous, excited, anxious etc. If you use rescue remedy yourself make sure not to eat or drink peppermint/spearmint/mint. these cancel out the rescue remedy. Rescue remedy is made by the company Bach. Hope this helps! It always works for me, and my cats/dogs. Blessings,

When my cat was sick I used a plug in called Feliway so he was just calmed in his recovery. I also had it plugged in for when my friend brought her baby around as my cat is not the friendliest of creatures but he was relaxed enough to stay in the room with a grumbling baby. However no the baby is a toddler and moves hes nowhere to be seen and I don't think that would be helped with Feliway.

Rescue Remedy is an all natural product that we use in our cat shelter. You can buy it in a little spritz bottle or put a few drops in their water.
