PETA is a very irresponsible, attention-seeking, propaganda producing extremist organization. I wouldn't trust a PETA member as far as I could throw them. Take a look at PETA's website, it proves my point for me. A bunch of whacko nutjobs who ought to be wearing tinfoil hats.

They all do testing on animals. How do you think they found out the foods were contaminated for the recall. They don't just listen to consumers.
However; the video the PETA spread around doesn't look much different than a vets office on a busy day of surgeries. Most vets have a recovery area where pets are laid on a floor to be monitored closer from the anesthesia (just like a people hospital) and air tubes pulled from their throats by a technician so we really don't know what was going on in the video. When I received it I did not forward it to any of my contacts because of this.
Proctor and Gamble also notifies employees of the dogs that they have available. They give employees a chance to take them home when they are finished with them.
They do this for the safety of your pet.
At one time officials did go into IAMS and found many violations but Procto and gamble immediately rectified everything they were told too. However; PETA wants to drag it on and on. You really have to be careful of what someone says PETA says.

I'm not sure if you have any of these brands in Australia, but I'll throw 'em out here to let you know: Royal Canin, Canidae, Wellness, Innova Evo, Natural Balance, California Natural, Eagle Pack, and Solid Gold. Even if you don't have any of those brands available to you, you can equip yourself with some basic knowledge on good, healthy dog food. First, look for a food that lists *real* meat as the *first* ingredient. "Chicken meal", "Beef meal", etc. are not words you want to see. The word "meal" means that the meat has been boiled down so much that essentially all of the nutrients have been sapped right out of it. Avoid anything with corn in it, opting instead for foods that utilize more nutritional fillers like peas, carrots, etc.

No, they do not. The animals they keep for testing are closely monitored.
Remember when you watch those videos 'batgirl' and 'alyssa' claim demonstrate abuse by Iams, they are being produced by PETA. PETA is going to make things look bad because that is what they want to do.

This is from an official complaint lodged aainst Iams and Proctor and Gamble by the U.S. Department of Agriculture The government complaint alleges that the following violations, among others, were documented by government inspectors at the contract laboratory from 2002 to 2005:
1. Failure to provide pain relief to sheep used in experiments that caused pain or distress
2. Failure to ensure that personnel were trained to perform experiments on animals
3. Failure to provide veterinary care and to observe animals daily
4. Failure to properly ventilate housing facilities for dogs and cats
5. Failure to house cats with a sufficient number of litterboxes and resting surfaces
6. Failure to keep animal-housing facilities clean and in good repair, resulting in injuries
7. Failure to maintain comfortable temperatures in animal-housing facilities
8. Failure to provide animals with sufficient space
This is just the tip of the iceberg. When you see actual videaos, you'll want to cry for those poor test animals.

Yes they do. They take the dog and put it on the floor and just let it lay on a dirty floor or they let the animals go crazy in their cages. They also cut the back muscle and let the dogs lay their and let them die. I saw pictures of it and I did not like it at all. I saw pictures of the dogs laying on the floor and you can tell their back muscle had been cut off. They do more then that. The people that sent me the pictures was PETA.
Why they are being watched is because they were reported and now vets go in there to make sure that they are not abusing the animals.

No - this is total propaganda by PETA.
Just like every other pet food company, they do palatability studies. They feed new foods to dogs to see if they like the food. But it isn't cruel. It's like humans doing taste tests for new food products.

I don't know about Iams but I know that Purina did. You need to worry about what they are actually putting in the food too. Don't be too positive that it is descent stuff.

Yes they do.
Email me your email address and I'll send you the video ? It speaks for itself.
I don't support PETA.
I also have emails from IAMS Customer care confirming that this has happened, no use shooting the messenger.
