We are looking after a stray cat, who is pregnant. She startred to cry and ask for reassurance and then a lot of watery stuff came out just 15 minutes ago. Then she went to this dark place inside the cabinet, where she is hiding and resting. She does not make any noise. Is this normal? How soon should she have contractions? I never had this dilemma before! Help!

Call the nearest verterinary hospital and ask the the same question you are asking us -- I would guess that they would tell you this: If nothing happens after a while -- bundle her up n a safe carrier and Take Her To The Vet-- something may be wrong-- not every animal has an easy time giving birth!!

This is what I would definitely do. I hope everything turns out ok. Thanks for caring for that lost and lonely little kitty!!

PS -- after the kittens are born, be sure to take them to the vet at a time recommended by the vet.

It could take a few hours. Don't fret over her too much, it will make her nervous. Look in on her every 15 minutes or so. Don't forget, animals have been doing this in the wild unattended for millions of years.
