Maverick - my 2yr old male cat has been acting strangely the past 2 days.
Yesterday he was acting as if he'd seen a ghost - he was looking at something, became scared, howled and ran under the bed.
Tonight, he was playful, then became very still, started looking at something and something in his face changed.
His pupils were dialated, left one much larger than the other, and he had a very slight twitching of his head. My roommate said it was like he was trying to see and couldnt.
He seemed to snap out of it after about an hour and he is sleeping now.
The look on his face, his movements, his eyes told me something did and was happening to him.
Can someone give me any idea's what could be wrong
Could this be some indication of poisoning or seisures or mini strokes or ????????

Not at his age. This is common on old cats, and those are none of the symptoms. It seems tht your cat ate something toxic. Are you sure that nobody would do something that could harm your cat? It could be noise sensitive as well. I would take that young cat into the vet and get a blood work up and find out what is wrong, or at least take him in and let the doc look at him. I think someone hurt him or he ate poision, this sounds like some serious trama or poision. God Bless. I thik you wpould be surprised what could be dangerous to a cat if a cat found it. Not to blame anyone.

Yes cats can have strokes, but it's a lot more rare than people think. Usually when people think their cat or dog has had a stroke it turns out to be a thromboembolism or a seizure.

Your cat obviously has neurological symptoms, which can be caused by many things including poisoning.

It goes without saying that your cat needs to see a vet before this develops any further.

It is presumed that cat and dog can have strokes just like people, but it is not documented in the veterinary literature. The difference in pupil size is called anisocoria. This can be due to a problem with one or both of the eyes, due to a brain lesion, or an middle ear infection. You would need to have him evaluated by your veterinarian to determine the exact cause. Continue to monitor his pupil size and his mental attitude and these may be indication of the underlying cause. GL

Yes; cats can have strokes. But somehow, I don't think that is your kitty's problem. I suspect he may be having problems with his vision or ears... If it is an ear infection, the pain can make the cat "twitch" and dilated pupils often signal pain. You should take your kitty to the vet tomorrow for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Well, he's a cat for sure. So many cats act like that.
Could a flea be biking him and spooking him?
If the skin is twitching, perhaps it is a small seisure.
Put your mind at ease and take him in for some blood work.
If there is nothing wrong at the vets, I'd say he's acting like a cat.

If he had a stroke you will soon notice this.
I had 2 cats who had severe strokes and I had to put them down.
One cat after the second stroke.
Things to watch for are: falling when they walk. Their balance isn’t good anymore.
How you describe it, I don’t think it was a stroke. A am thinking of a epilepsy attack. Cats can get that too.
Sometimes for only a few minutes, sometimes longer. After an attack they are tired.
If this happens a lot I would advice you to see a vet.
There are medicine for cats for this.
Good luck

Im not sure what exactly is wrong with your poor Maverick but in answer to your question YES cats can have strokes, heart attackes, epilepsy, diabetes...in fact most all things people can have. My reccomendation to you is to get your baby to the vet ASAP & have him checked out & some blood work & possibly a MRI done to check and see taht his brain is functioning properly...BEST OF LUCK

yes they can - perhaps your cat did see a ghost - animals are very susceptible to seeing/hearing things we don't. Maybe you could take it to the vets for a check up.
