I saw a kitten astray yesterday and the kid in me just acted up again. It's really thin that its bones are sticking out. It won't eat. I'm guessing that it's still in need of its mother's milk. What can i substitute the mother's milk for? I tried giving it this powdered milk but it just doesn't want it. Need help here before it starves itself to death.

Go to walmart and get some kitten replacement milk. Also you might want to give it a dose of liquid worm medicine. I would take it to the vet or local shelter ASAP it sounds like if you don't intervene this little creature will die. You may have to buy a kitten bottle and hand feed it. Bless you for wanting to save one of God's little creatures. I took in a three week old who's mother abandon, she tried to die 4 times on me, she Lil' Bears is a healthy 7 month old who has the energy of a both her sisters put together. She is a walking miracle.

I would have done the same thing. Can`t just let a poor innocent kitty by itself. You may wnat to contact your vet and ask them about feeding milk from the vets. he will beable to direct you in the right area, don`t give anymore milk..it is too strong for them. they need a special type of milk. As for her bones, she might be dehydrated, and in need of some fluids, before you can think of milk :-)

take it to the vet right away, they'll know the best substitute for mothers milk, if it's an emergency try another kind of milk, anything but cow's milk kittens stomachs cant take most other types and it can make them sick. keep it warm and make sure it stays awake untill it gets to the vet.

You need to take him to the vet for leukemia/fiv test. Do not expose him to any other cats until you do. These diseases are infectious and often fatal.
You can try KMR, which is kitten formula. Milk humans drink is not good for kittens and will not give him nutrients he needs. He will not survive on that. Offer canned cat food as well.
Hope he does OK.

Try the kitten formula, and get some meat baby food (chicken, beef, lamb)Don't buy the dinners, just the straight meat.If it won't eat,try putting some on it's nose.It should lick it off.You really need to get it to a vet asap, though, for worming and a check-over to see if it has a serious problem. It will at least need worming and kitten shots anyway,so you might as well take it before it gets worse.Good luck, and keep us posted.

Most pet stores sell formula for kittens, as well as bottles.

I would also suggest a visit to the vet right away, especially if you have other pets just to be sure there's nothing else wrong.

Enjoy your new kitty!
