Fish oil such as cod liver oil is very high in vitamin A and could kill your cat from an overdose.
You need to switch your cat to a better diet. With all the pet food recalls, it's hard to know what to feed them, but the following list should help. Make sure that it's high in protein with no wheat gluten. My cats love Natural Balance and their coats and eyes sparkle because they have such good health. They're very happy and active on this formula. Organic pet food is the best you can give your pet.
This is a list of cat and dog food.

Well, the capsules are formulated for adult humans. How would you know the correct dose for a cat?
Answer- if you are not a vet/veterinary pharmacist, you won't. They contain some fat-soluble vitamins it takes a while to excrete- and you don't want toxic build-up in a small animal!
Better option: buy a bottle of cod liver oil and give kitty a few DROPS (not spoonfuls!) in her food several times a week.
Or buy some tuna packed in oil and feel judiciously (a LITTLE bit once or twice a week) to kitty.
Do not substitute for regular cat food, which is formulated for cat's daily dietary intake needs.
Warning- kitty with lots of oil in diet will fart! And it will not be fun.

not use fish oil. i heard it is not good for them.
i had a friend who lost her cat because the vet gaves her fish oil capsules and they got caught in the throaqt and the cat dies a few days later. this is not good for cats or dogs.
for dry skin, you can try a mixture of half water, half apple cider vinegar. shake it in a bottle and then towel wet the cat with it. it will help with the dry skin and bring mositure to its skin.
for shampoo, try something that has oatmeal in it. even if you used baby shampoo, pour some oatmeal into it, shape it well and then wash the kitty with it.
tuna fish is very good for kitty. when pouring the fish let the oils also pour out and let the kitty lick it off.

You can use the capsules, but I think they're expensive. Adding a few drops of olive oil to her food will also help her skin.
