Does anyone ever had a miracle happen for a cat that seemed to be going to die? My cat has a big cold and got better last week..., but it is now back again and this morning one vet suggested that she should be put to sleep...that she was suffering and that I should feel guilty for not having her put to sleep last week..... He refused to give her antibiotics and I had to go to another vet.... She got her antibiotics there, but was told that there could be some other reasons for the cold...
and she may not make it.... She doesn't have anything wrong, but she is an older cat (age unknown)....The second vet says her liver seems to have PERHAPS a problem, and that if she is not better by morning, best to put her to sleep... She is no more weaker than last week right when she got better... She is sneesing....and of course weak of not eating, but to put her to sleep for a cold? Isn't this far too simple? She may be suffering, of course weakening..., but last week she got better in 24 hrs.

Thank you all....This morning, Pasha was not really better. Although she did made her little "pe" when I helped her balance, she was very weak, and when I forced-fed a little milk (she adored milk), I noticed that her nose mucus had some blood, and THAT told me there was little hope now... It had to be internal... She was a little yellow when the vets saw her.None of the 2 vets could tell me exactly what she had... With these symptoms, why cant they say anything... The first one told me simply that cancer does exist for cats.... , but he never said that this was the possible or probable cause... Neither did either vets offer me to make a blood test on her...? why? I would have agreed on the blood test...Why simply jump to directly put her to sleep without any trying of some treatment or tests? In any case, with the blood from her nose and the heavy breathing and although she was walking on her own still.., a little, the 1st vet put her to sleep, at no cost, this morning....Pasha.....

Have you had her check for feline leukemia? They can do a snap test in the vets office. If that's what wrong with her, it is better to let her go. If she ready she will let you know. If she hasn't eaten in three days she is telling you she is ready to go. Spend some quality time with her and say your goodbyes. Good luck. I have one who is positive for it. The local vet refused to fix her and wanted my permission to put her down. That was 2 years ago she is a happy healthy cat. Afterwe took her to another vet who spayed her she went from 7 to 12 lbs and has had no health prolbems at all right now.

I adopted some FIV cats and one by one they got a cold and it would come and go with them until it didn't. I wish you lots of luck and it's a hard decision to put an animal down. Use your best judgement-don't let anyone even a vet tell you what to do. Don't let them guilt trip you. I just had a dog die from tainted food and it was awful. I put off having him put down and just hoped and hoped he would get better. Thanks to Ol Roy's dog biscuits he died an awful death. I had another old dog for twenty years and when he got bad I had him put down and I've felt guilty about it ever since. Loved him dearly. After the last one I now realize I did the humane thing for the first dog, he didn't suffer at all. I know that this doesn't consol you but maybe it will give you something to think about. Try feeding her. I kept my cats alive a lot longer and brought them back several times. I mushed up food in the blender and fed them with a injecter type thing I got at the vets (or pharmacy). I used a lot of wet cat food which I wouldn't trust right now. Maybe blend some tuna, or cook and blend some liver with some dry food. There is a red vitamin supplement that adds lots of calories for about $6 and comes in a tube from the vet Nutri something or other. I would give them some of that and some of the food and some liquid. Never go to the first vet again. Any vet that will not even try to help your animal when you are willing to pay has problems and the choice he made was not his to make. I would tell him so and where to park his bill. Have you considered that the cat has eaten the tainted food that is everywhere now? So many animals are affected. I hope your cat gets better and this helps you. It is so difficult when you have an ailing animal that you care about.

I say, give the cat a fighting chance to get better. I have had experiences too where a vet told me "no hope" but the cat bounced back... Go with your gut feeling. Often, the miracle that our pet is waiting for is the miracle of LOVE. Nurse your cat back to health - try your hardest. Give her a reason to want to live. But keep giving her the antibiotics and feed her anyway you know how. Make sure she is hydrated and that she is getting some nourishment. If it is her time to go, she will let you know.

I had a cat who was sick for weeks with pneumonia, and she wouldn't eat.The vet had her on two different antibiotics, and I had to feed her with an oral syringe( meat baby food, kitten formula, and Nutri-cal),for two weeks before she would finally eat on her own.I thought for sure she would die,but she got better. It took her a long time, and she had a runny eye for the rest of her life, but she did survive.I would try everything. If she's congested, one thing you can do is oput her in a cat carrier, cover it with a towel, and sit a warm-steam vaporizer next to the carrier, under the towel. This will help her breathe easier. Also, you can use Neo-Synephrin pediatric nose drops. You dilute them with saline nose drops, three parts saline to one part nose drops, and just put some on your finger and rub it across her nostrils twice a day. Also try giving her Nutri-cal .You can get it at any pet store or vet.It is a nutritional supplement that is high in calories.
About the liver problem,is she yellow?Look at the whites of her eyes, her ears, and her gums and tongue. If they are yellowish, then there may be a liver problem, but it's really hard to tell without blood tests.I would try everything before putting her to sleep.Sometimes,it's just a matter of getting them to eat.Force-feeding often helps them get their appetite back.Let us know what happens.I'll pray for your cat to get well.

take a good look at your cat and ask yourself if you think she is suffering enough for her to get put to sleep. this cold can just be a bug. that comes and goes. ask your vet if it is feline leukemia. there is no cold that iv heard of before that has killed cats like what u have said. try pushing food into her even if she doesnt want any. bleend it and get it into her. she will be able to fight it off fater if she has food in her body. dont give up. putting her to sleep can just harm you. keep her living until you think she cant take it anymore

Well, I don't like putting animals down unles theey are suffering badly...The news of late says that wheat from china that's put in pet food, has a chemical that's especially toxic to cats and causes liver failure...Almost always fatal.

My one kitty went messing for few days..I thought he was gone forever and dead. but then all of the sudden he came back......but injured badly...cold..weak and hungry..I thought he was going to die....but I took care of him and got him eating and drinking....then he slowly started to walk again it was hard for him...he fell a few times..but for a while most of his time was just sleeping and healing.
He is alive and doing a lot better. but he has trouble seeing with one of his eyes. I think its a miracle he came back and that he survived....it's unknown on what happend to him.
It may be a miracle with your kitty, anything can happen.
