She keeps going inthe litter box and trying but nothing comes out. All the vets are closed because of a stupid holiday. Does anyone have any home remedies or any ideas that wont hurt her?

Feed your cat some tuna with vegie oil. But if she hasn't gone for less then 6 days then take her to the vet. I've been told under stress cats can hold it for 3-6 days if they need to.

I doubt ALL the vets are closed - most areas have a 24 hours emergency service! I was at work at mine easter sunday.

You could try vegetable oil/oily tuna, but if she's straining to go and can't, she's got a problem, and will need to go the vet tomorrow if not today.

Please don't leave it any later than tomorrow - yes cats can hold it if they're stressed, but since your cat is trying to go, this is obviously not the case. I'm not saying there is anything hideously wrong, she might just need some lactose, or at worse a one-off enema - but I have seen some pretty awful things become of cats with untreated constipation, so it just isn't worth the risk.

You really shouldn't let this go.
Call your Vet and every other Vet in your area if you have to.
Most have 24 hour answering services or at least a answering machine in the office that is checked every day, several times a day whether the office is open or closed.

Good luck, I hope you can get kitty into see a Vet very soon.

My cat had this problem. Try feeding her some pumpkin. That is what my vet recommended. It is a great source of fiber that cats actually like.

Definitely get a little bit of vegetable oil into her system. Put it on her food if she's still eating; put it on your finger tips if she'll lick it off.

If she's still eating, she'll probably ok. =)
