Polydactyl just means that the kitty has an extra toe(s). He'll still be adoptable given the appropriate care/measures are taken.

They will also be able to to neuter the cat for you, but if you're questioning on taking him into your local society call and ask questions!

It doesn't hurt to ask how they deal with cats that are not as social as others. The fact that the cat has become comfortable around your family is a really good sign.

Call and ask questions. Perhaps try finding a safe rescue that will care for the cat until he finds a good home.

Hope this helps~

The animal shelter has no reason to not take him. Just make sure that it is a no-kill facility...that they will actually give him a chance to be adopted. Polydactyl kitties are rarer than others- due to the extra toes, but they are just as adoptable. Try the shelter.

Call the local shelter and check if they even have room for him. They will neuter him before he is adopted out probably and that will help him with the transition to another family. There might be other adoption agencies available but whether or not they have room is up in the air.

Lots of newspapers have "free" ads, and sometimes there are local advertising papers that will accept ads. I've had a polydactyl cat for many years and she is great fun. Mention in the ad that he has extra toes and you'll probably get lots of inquiries. Mention, too, that they should get him neutered. I've had a lot of success placing cats in new homes this way.

Well you won't know unless you try!

Do you mean polydactyl by the way - as in has extra digits?

I think it's worth a try letting him come home with you, you won't know until you try, and having extra digits don't hurt them at all.
