Advice from good cooks, please: I made a fruit cake which was lovely. I think that the cake would be nice made with apples instead of the raisins and cherries in the recipe. Could I just substitute the same amount of apples, or would I need to adjust the amount of apples, or other ingredients to have it turn out ok? Thanks.

I once read about how to create your own sourdough starter by setting out a bowl of flour and water overnight and capturing the wild yeast present in the air as the dew falls. I've lost the article. I make my chili from scratch and I make it differently every time. I make it to taste with mainly the following in it.
Pinto Beans
Very Lean Ground Beef
Fresh Plum Tomato's, sliced and diced
Tomato Sauce
Garlic, lots of it
Onions both cooked in it and some raw to sprinkle on top
Chili spices
Olive Oil
Roasted Sweet Red Peppers
Cilantro
Hot Peppers, both Jalepnos and Habeneros

i am making a simple pasta salad with bell pepper onion tomato motzerella and salami with simple pasta and italian dressing, this will be for sunday lunch, my mom had the idea to make it early and to let the flavors sit in the fridge, could i make it the night before, friday night before, of do i have to wait untill the morning of....
