That is when I start to bring out the crockpot. You can find tons of crockpot receipes online but I cook from sight and taste. I grew up with a southern country grandmother so all mine are in my head. Some good ideas are Chicken and Dumplings, Chili and Beans, Enchillada Soup, Beef Stews, Baby Carrots in Brown Sugar and Honey, Potatos and Green Beans in Garlic and butter... I make it all in my crockpot.... Add a fantastic pan of cornbread and butter to any and you have a meal for everyone.

Over here in australia it gets cold in june so i like to cook pies and pastries. Added on the side with mash and steamed vegies.
With your pastries just cook your fav meat and add Broccoli, mushrooms, a leek. What ever you like. If its chicken add a creamy chicken and mushroom soup , some cream/sourcream. Once its all cooked let it cool down then put it on your pastry, fold them up and paste with egg wash. It takes 15 minutes until the pastry is cooked then there done.......

I use regular kielbasa, only add celery hearts not leaves or celery seed. I use brown mustard not honey mustard, unless i have both, usually have reg mustard or brown. I cut potatoes in cubes big cubes so don't get mushy, I love garlic so i add a clove or two.

WINTER KIELBASA STEW

1 lb. turkey kielbasa sliced into angled ½ inch pieces
1 cup celery chopped into ½ inch pieces
(add celery leaves as well)
2 ½ cups all purpose potatoes chopped into ½ inch wedges
1 cup carrots chopped
½ cup green zucchini chopped
½ cup yellow squash chopped
½ cup chopped onion
2 cups chicken stock
1 cup water
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon tapioca
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoons spicy mustard
1 tablespoon honey mustard
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon sweet basil
1 teaspoon minced onion
2 teaspoon ground pepper

Combine all ingredients into slow cooker and cook on high for four hours or on low for six hours.

Five to seven servings. Serve with corn bread

HOT PERKED BREW

4 1/2 c. cranberry juice
4 1/2 c. pineapple juice
2 1/2 c. water

1/2 c. brown sugar
4 cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves

Perk and serve - delicious on a cold winter night!

things that use the oven, casseroles, ie. hotter things. versus things that you can throw together and serve mostly cold, or with just some fried meat of some kind thrown in. squash is big in the winter, soups, spaghetti. check out the food network page!

I like using the oven when it gets cooler, so I make things like enchiladas, homemade pizza, chicken, turkey and casseroles.
