I live in Maine so I'm a little spoiled. I've tried most of them (canned), not too good.
BUT, locally we can get "Looks Clam Chowder". I'm sure you can't find it where you live but if you felt like it, they will ship.
Go to ----Looksgourmetfood and you should find them. A little pricey but great "canned" New England Style" chowder...The best "canned" chowder you can get....Made in Whiting, Me. (Maine)

Wolfgang Puck is the best. But if you have a Vons supermarket near you, try their pre-made clam chowder in the deli section. It's fantastic!

Wolfgang puck definitely, I am one of the biggest clam chowder fans around and I have tried almost all of the ones out there. all of them but the off brand ones.

canned? brrr (shivering)
Does it HAVE to be canned? Scratch is very easy - whole milk, cream, clams, cooked potatoes, butter - voila!
just put in as much or as little of all of the above as suits your taste, add salt and pepper and there's your clam chowder.
