My daughter was born very healthy no problems. Until November of 2006. She went to the hospital ICU for a couple days. She was sick would not drink or eat... She got the roto virus. She lost 3 pounds during this. Now she has been sick since January with cold after cold. I took her to the doctor yesterday. They did not say much. She has a pedisure a day. She only weights 18.12 and she is almost 2. Should I worry... They said they may test her for IBS... A baby with IBS???

I found alternative care with the daycare in my corporate office. My concern is after spending 2-3 weeks in the daycare at my office around lots of children, will it negatively impact my 21 month old daughter to put her back in the in-home daycare that only has 2 other kids her age? Should I just keep her in the daycare at my office if she does really well there? Your experienced opinions please. Thanks!

i keep getting yelled at by many of the mexican women around me that i should not be shirtless around the little ones.

most of the american women though dont whine about it unless i have no pants in which case i dont go around the children.

so is this a mexican thing or is it bad for a guy to not wear a shirt around little ones?

My son will be 3 in May. He has a temper issue. Anytime something goes a little bit wrong, he throws an absolute fit. Thanks to some advice from here on Yahoo, the biting has almost completely stopped since the punishment became vinegar on his tongue. But when he gets mad he throws things or hits someone (or something) and will continue until he's punished. He isn't potty trained yet, and the worse is when we try to change his diaper or put on his pajamas. He'll get so mad sometimes that he'll scream and hit and kick. The kicking is what really gets me going, I have a hard time controlling my temper when he does it because he's hit us in the face and neck a few times. Usually I have to pin him down, which he hates, but then he just screams and spits and tries to bite.

I have tried everything I can think of. Our usual punishment for acting up is timeout. But once he gets there he hits the wall, or spits some more and screams. It's not working. I don't want to hit him, I feel too bad

A friend of mine has a 4 year old son who behaves unsually;
He doesn't talk although he undersatnds what everyone is saying to him he just doesn't speak.
Also he does n't like to make eye contact with people.
He is obsessed with keeping things tidy and organised which i think is unusual.
He gets fascinated by simple things like leaves and branches instead of playing with toys.
Is this normal? Although the doctor said theres nothing worng with him i still think he could be autistic?

i took her to the dr's last fri, that is when i learned she has a bad cold, and an ear infection. The next day i noticed this little lump under her ear; on the same side of her neck that her ear infection is. It is about as big as the tip of my finger, the Dr's felt all over her neck and did not say anything i would like to assume she felt it and did not say anything because it is a swolen gland or something. but i am still a little worried, anyone else experenced this?

I just bought my 14 month old son that special paper and markers from crayola where it only writes on the paper, and not walls and everything else, because he loves doodling with highlighters when he comes to work with me. Is that too young? How old should you be getting kids to draw or giving them coloring books?

I am looking at my options for my son, upon entering kindergarten. I believe I am leaning the way of Montessori or Waldorf, as I have not had good expierenes with the public school system ( I currently home school my 12 year old). I unfortunately could not afford the tuition on these schools when my older child needed it most. I can however; afford tuition now, and would like to find the best match for my youngest son. He's smart, but shy, not quick to speak his mind in public settings, on the small side (just now in 3t clothes), he is very detailed oriented, and particular. Any parents out there have thought on these two schooling systems?

my daughter just turned 2. she recently found a new game, she'll wait until naptime and go poop, then take her diaper off and paint the wall with it. so gross...lol i have moved her crib away from the wall. she doesn't poop at the same time everyday yet so it's a hit or miss. did this happen to you? and what did you do about it? feel free to share any stories at all, i love a good laugh!

What the best way to do it? I tried one night by not giving it to her and she just cried all night and i gave in. During the day she does without it or when she's at the daycare or family members house she's fine without it. It's just when she's ready for bed.

I am looking for any website that has pictures of individual pieces of clothing that I can print out and let my daughter color. I want to label my daughters dresser drawers so that she can choose her own clothes. Specifically I am looking for socks, underwear, pants, shirts and dresses. Thanks all!!!

Also, how old was your child when you started them? I am just trying to figure out the norm. My daughter is 22 months old and I am finally going to start training her. I really hope I didn't wait too long!
Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks!

I have just found out that my son (turns 5 07/26) does not have to begin kindergarten this year, he can wait until he turns 6. I am thinking this is a good idea for my child... many reasons; he's quite small for his age, very shy, very particular.... likes to watch from the sidelines.... does not like to be dirty (he does not like to paint because of the mess)... He has been in a preeschool for the past two years, and only recently painted his first picture; He is smart, but socially withdrawn. Any way I acknowledge his "quirks", and accept that he is much more comfortable in his own environment.....I think that witholding the start of kindergarten for one year may give hims time to mature/grow. Have any parents done this, what are your feelings?

My daughter will be 3 in May and my son will be 1 in May just 6 days later. I am hesitant to combine their parties, but for the sake of family I feel that I must. Does anyone else have the same problem and if so can you provide me with some good ideas for a combined birthday party for a toddler girl and a baby boy's 1st birthday. Thanks

I run a daycare out of my home and I am having issues with one of the parents lack of interest in potty training their child. Their child is 4 and doesn't even know how to use the potty. His mother baby's him so badly. She is unconcerned for what this may do to him in the future and frankly I am tired of changing a 4 year olds diaper. She also expects me to pick him up as if he is a 2 year old to walk her out the door. It's getting in the way of my other children's independence when they see me do this. I feel he is too old for me to treat him this way and the other kids don't understand why he gets special treatment when his mother is around. I know I should confront her on this, but how? I hate confrontations, so I don't know how to go about this. I have had him since Sept. I feel like it's too late. How can approach this without losing my job and offending her? Any advice is welcome!

My son is 3 years old. He went to his fathers this past weekend and he took him outside to play for like 2 hours. First and formost, isnt that irresponsible? Taking a kid out in 34' weather? Anyways, He woke up Mon morning at like 8...and didnt eat anything. He had some water, but then he laid down on the couch for a little bit. Then we went into his room. He went down for a nap at about 12 noon and didnt wake up until about 4:30ish. He came back out into the living room watched some tv and fell asleep on the couch at 6pm. We put him in his room and he woke up screaming at 9 pm. He was shaking real bad and I took his temp in his ear and it was 103.3. ISNT THAT BAD? Anyways we took him to the hospital, and with in 5 min, I checked it again, and it went down 5'. Weird huh? So, we left (we only live 2 min from there) and he went back to bed. Now his temp has been going up and down all day. Doctor said to just give him plenty of liquids. Thats it? What do i do? He still has the shakes?

She wears her panties to the sitter and goes all day using the potty, but when she gets home, we ask and ask and even sit her on it every couple hours. She will just go in her pants, so we end up keeping in her in pull ups.

How can we enforce the potty rules at home?

My daughter is 13 months old and we just started her immunizations at one year of age (our pediatrician was fine with it). Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, I have to return to work in september, meaning my daughter will have to enter day care at that time. (She will be 19 months old). I am wondering if I will have trouble getting a day care to accept her since her immunizations were begun a year late?
