My son has been sick with a cold and not eating, he is getting better and starting to eat more. The problem is now when he has a bowel movement it had been light green or white.

White stool can indicate some very serious problems. I do not say this lightly, this is not my general answer but please --in this case -- call your doctor.

Whatever meds and drinks he's had, the bacteria and infection from his cold has passed through his body, it's better that it's all coming out. Just like when you blow your nose, something's amiss when it's not clear.
Give him some real apple juice and make him eat a banana.

the reason the stool is light in color is because the child has no real food in him to draw out the vitamins he need to replenish his little body . Since he is getting better you say start giving him vegetables and small amount of red meat and a little potatoes to coat his stomach. Don't give him any large portion of food let him take his time eating but give him a bigger amount of vegetables with each meal while he is getting better this will increase his energy level and help his white cells to regenerate faster

It could be any medication that he is taking or the types of food he is eating. My son's poop turns green anytime he drinks purple kool aid which is just weird to me. The body just reacts differently to different things. If it continues to be this way I would consult with your pediatrician. Otherwise just be patient and it will pass.

Something in the silver family, maybe brown, or a green color close to the top. But Black shoes with a white skirt definitely not.

Green bowel movements signify rapid movement of food through the intestines or the digestion of blue or black foods.
White poop means that the bile from the liver is not entering your gut and you need to see a doctor.
