My niece is turning five soon, and I saw a few adorable necklaces at reasonable prices (one is pearls, the other a gold initial). Is she too young to like wearing jewelry?

She came home from school and was crying. She said her ear has been hurting all day. She is very warm, but no fever. She is crying, this kid never cries! I am stuck until my husband gets home from work in two hours. I have no idea what to do, she is never ever sick, or in pain!!! She keeps telling me her ear is beeping. It's all red. Could something ahve happened to it at school or outside? We are way up north and it is well below zero outside with strong winds! Is it the weather? What do I do? I'm freaking out here!

This weekend our clocks will move forward 1 hour. My 13 month old son has a pretty set schedule for meals, naps, and sleep. I'm concerned that if I just try to switch the clocks over night that he will be hungry and thus fussy at the wrong time on Sunday. Plus it will probably be hard to get him to go to sleep at 7pm, since it will still feel like 6pm to him. I was thinking that it might be better to start adjusting his schedule 20 minutes each day so that the change phases in over 3 days. My husband thinks it would be easier to just make the switch from one day to the next. What do you think? Have you had problems with kids being irritable/off-schedule right after the time change? How do you deal with it?

How many of you fellow Mothers put your 2.5 year old down for a nap after lunch?

I ask this for the following reason: When my son turned two, he stopped napping altogether, and he was doing pretty good with it. (No fussiness, not cranky, etc...) However, now I have noticed that he is becoming more cranky and disagreeable. So, in order to calm him down, I take him to his bed and he falls asleep almost immediately. This tells me that he must be needing the sleep. Have any of you ever stopped putting your child down to nap, only to find that you needed to start again?

Thanks for your answers♥

What is the best way to teach my son to wee standing up? At the moment unless he is at home with his own potty he refuses to go until he wets himself.
I've tried 'cheerios' & paper 'targets' - he wasnt interested!
Any ideas please?

I have a day care in my home and one of the children I keep had a dose of albuterol this morning before she got to my house. The child has been jittery and hyper all morning. It's like she physically cannot be still. Is there anything I can do for her to get her to calm down enough to go to sleep, it's nap time and she's keeping the other kids awake? Anyone have any experience with kids on albuterol? It's quite shocking and very disturbing to me how different the child has behaved today after the inhaler this morning.

How old do you guys think, is too old for training cups? I personally despise seeing children over the age of three with them in their mouths, walking all over the house with them.

I started back to work about a month ago part time working at a daycare. I have a 18 month old girl who has never been in daycare. I work from 1:30-6 in the afternoon. My daughter is normally taking a nap when I was at home when I would be going into work. The past few days I have been bringing her in at 10:30 AM so she can have lunch with her class and go down for a nap there. Do you think I am doing the right thing by bringing her in early or should I spending more time with her in the mornings. (she is getting up at 7 and we spend 3 hours together in the morning and 1-2 hours together at night.) Any advice from moms that went to work after having a kid would be great! I

My parents normally babysit if we have conflicting schedules and need them to (my husband doesn't know his schedule in advance, and I work part time in the evenings). But they're going away for a week so we've hired a family friend to look after our 2 year old daughter when I'm at work. The girl we've hired is 13 years old, and she is dependable, she has experience and is dependable and responsible. When I was babysitting (10-15 years ago!) the going rate was $3-$4 an hour. I'm only making $8/hour right now but I don't really think that's entirely relevant. I think child care is an important job though and it's only for a week. If I went by the increase in minimum wage in the past 15 years where we live, $4-$5 an hour would be reasonable. $5 an hour just doesn't sound like much to me. Any ideas?

I'll be taking a taxi from Orlando Airport to one of the Disney Resorts with my 4-year old. I think he is just under 40lb. Do I need to worry about a booster seat for him (we use one in my car)? How do I make arrangements for that? Please note - taxi will be the transportation of choice. There are no buses to this particular resort.

I posed a question to the manufacturer but their response did not answer my question. I am hoping other Smartville owners can help!

My son loves the Smartville Train Station so we recently purchased the Smartville Treehouse. When an animal is placed on a hot spot on the Train Station, it initially IDENTIFIES itself each and every time without fail.

When an animal is placed on a hot spot on the Tree House, it initially says ANY random phrase associated with that animal.

Is it a faulty Tree House or does yours work this way too?

Thanks.

What is the correct course of action?

I went home for lunch today, as I live in a cul de sac, there was no one around but 3 young girls sitting on the pavement obviously 'bunking' off their classes.

As I got out of the car 2 of the girls became hysterical as the 3rd girl was having a fit, I ran over to the girl but she was banging her head against the concrete so I tried to cushion her head with a coat. At this point my neighbour came out and while I did my best to comfort the girl he called for an ambulance. Once her fit finished I managed to put her in the recovery position.

Does anyone have any experience of this and what is the best way to help? I kind of felt I wasnt doing enough.

My 2 year old soon to be 3 loves the movie Nemo. Well last week she was watching it and it started jumping and she looked at me and said mom its squatched (scratched). So i told her its o.k. we will go get another one. So that week we get to Best Buy to get her one and we get ready to pay for and i run into a friend of mine. Well we get to talking and my baby looks at us, and my friend has a stturring problem and then my baby bust out with "mom" "mom" i said "what" she turned to me and pointed and said "she squatched".
